    Abstract: A lithium cell for a lithium metal battery includes: an electrolyte material; a cathode structure arranged on one side of the electrolyte material, the cathode structure including a cathode electrode and a cathode current collector; and an anode structure arranged on an opposite side of the electrolyte material from the cathode structure. The anode structure includes: an anode current collector; a lithium metal anode arranged on a side of the anode current collector arranged facing the electrolyte material; and a protective coating deposited on a surface of the lithium metal anode and arranged facing the electrolyte material, wherein the protective coating extends beyond the lithium metal anode and onto the anode current collector so as to seal both a surface and edge regions of the lithium metal anode from contact with a liquid electrolyte of the electrolyte material.

A second native oxide is formed on the metal base of the as-machined surface of the metal component subsequent to the machining. The method further includes, subsequent to the machining, performing operations to generate a finished surface of the metal component. The operations include a surface machining of the as-machined surface of the metal component to remove the second native oxide.

    Abstract: In some embodiments, a showerhead assembly includes a heated showerhead having a heater plate and a gas distribution plate coupled together; an ion filter spaced from the heated showerhead; a spacer ring in contact between the heated showerhead and the ion filter; a remote plasma region between the heated showerhead and the ion filter; an upper isolator spaced from the spacer ring and supported on the ion filter; a sealing ring fastened to the heated showerhead sealing against the upper isolator and pushing the upper isolator against the ion filter; a gap between a bottom of the gas distribution plate and a top of the ion filter, the gap being in fluid communication with the remote plasma region; a first passage extending through the heater plate; and a second passage in communication with the first passage and extending through the gas distribution plate, the second passage extending to the gap.

    Abstract: This present invention provides methods for structural modification of a molecule containing a hydroxyl group and an oxyanion amide or oxyanion ester group on adjacent or nearby atomic positions. The oxyanion, such as sulfate and phosphate, can be transferred to the hydroxyl group when the molecule is treated with a carbodiimide or various other oxyanion activating agents, resulting in selective oxyanion transfer to the hydroxyl group. Certain polysaccharides, and especially glycosaminoglycans, may be sulfated at a specific hydroxyl group when such hydroxyl group is present adjacent to or nearby a sulfate, phosphate, or other oxyanionic group in ester- or amide-linked forms.
