Abstract: The present invention provides an improved comprehensive method of assessing an individual's risk of developing CVD through analysis of multiple factors know to be associated with the development of cardiovascular disease. The factors include the classic Framingham factors of an individual's age, blood pressure, total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, history of diabetes and history of cigarette smoking, in addition to factors know to be associated with increased risk of CVD including inflammation, insulin resistance, obesity, kidney dysfunction.
