  • Patent number: 10648967
Abstract: The system for use with a breath tester includes a computing facility. In a learning mode, the facility is adapted to: receive the weight of a user; receive the details of each drink consumed by a user and the time of consumption of said each drink; receive measurements of breath alcohol content produced by the breath tester; and calculate the elimination rate of the user. In a predictive mode, the facility is adapted to: receive the details of each drink consumed by a user, and the time of consumption of said each drink; and calculate the expected breath alcohol content of the user based on the weight of the user, the calculated elimination rate of the user and said details of each drink consumed by the user and said time of consumption of said each drink.

  • Publication number: 20180113113
Abstract: The system comprises: a plurality of dispensing units distributed throughout the jurisdiction, each unit including: apparatus for receiving a breath sample from a person; apparatus for analysis the breath system for the presence of recreational drugs and/or alcohol; and apparatus for producing a printed or electronic ticket if the analysis of the breath sample does not reveal drugs and/or alcohol in an amount above a predetermined limit, the ticket including details of the time of the sample.

  • Publication number: 20170186111
Abstract: The system is for restaurants, nightclub and bars of the type wherein a plurality of running tabs are maintained, each tab including details of the food and drink items delivered to a service point. The improvement includes a database and a computing functionality. The database includes: details of the amount of alcohol in each drink item; details of the approximate time of delivery of said each drink item to the service point; and details of the approximate patron body mass associated with the service point. The computing functionality is adapted to: carry out calculations to predict the maximum breath alcohol concentration that each patron at the service point may experience over time, using the approximate patron body mass associated with the service point and estimated elimination rates; and create a signal when the maximum breath alcohol exceeds a predetermined limit.

  • Patent number: 9376017
Abstract: The apparatus is for use with a motor vehicle operated by a driver and includes a scanning device and a computing facility. The scanning device, in use, gathers information about the eye activity of the driver. The computing facility determines, based on the information gathered, whether the driver is watching the road. The determination can include one or more of: ascertaining an orientation of at least one of the driver's eyes; and ascertaining an orientation of the head of the driver. The computing facility can be defined by a microprocessor. If the facility determines that the driver is not watching the road, the facility can trigger an alarm state of the vehicle. The apparatus can be employed for persons convicted of driving while texting in a manner analogous to the manner in which breath alcohol ignition interlocks are employed for persons convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol.
