Publication number: 20230392021Abstract: Disclosed herein is a reactive cold-applied thermoplastic bond coat system and method of application thereof. The system is a two- or three-component system defined by acrylate-based component(s) and an initiator suspension. Upon mixing of the components at the jobsite, the mixture is applied onto a substrate (e.g., waterproofing membrane), and a pavement material (e.g., asphalt) is applied onto the bond coat. Excellent asphalt compaction was observed, resulting in high surface contact area, along with very low water penetration to the bond coat interface. The high surface contact area and penetration of the asphalt into the bond coat provides a good bond between the asphalt and substrate.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2021Publication date: December 7, 2023Inventors: Abbas Kazmi, Steven Horton, Katie McGuire, Jonathon Millner

Patent number: 11391152Abstract: Disclosed are methods, compositions, and composition packages for spray-coating a membrane for waterproofing a concrete tunnel applications. After primer coating is applied onto a surface in the tunnel, the coating composition is sprayed to form a membrane, and then concrete is cast or sprayed against the membrane so that it can bond to the membrane. Coating compositions comprise two or more acrylate monomers, as well as initiator, accelerator, and optional additive. Preferably, the coating composition is established by using a two-part package, one part having initiator, the other part having accelerator, and each part containing the monomers and optional additives so that the two parts can be shipped to the application site and mixed in a 1:1 ratio during spraying. The waterproofing coating composition provides excellent bonding with concrete.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2021Date of Patent: July 19, 2022Assignee: GCP Applied Technologies Inc.Inventors: David Cozzens, Xia Cao, Steven Horton, Rachel C. Weston, Abbas Kazmi

Publication number: 20050023451Abstract: An angular position sensor (1) suitable for use in combination with the rotor of an electric motor comprising both absolute and incremental encoders (3) where a first signal of the absolute encoder produces a period corresponding to an electric revolution of the motor and less than a mechanical revolution of the rotor, a second output of the incremental encoder varies periodically over a complete revolution of the rotor, where the two signals provide sufficient information to determine the absolute mechanical position of the rotor. Typically, transitions in the first output signal combined with the state of the second output signal provide such information.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 14, 2004Publication date: February 3, 2005Inventor: Steven Horton
