  • Patent number: 6360955
Abstract: A space heater for the interior of a building has a support enclosure containing a gas burner and a gas conduit connecting the burner to a source of combustible gas. An electronically controlled proportional valve is located in the gas conduit. A fan and motor assembly are in the enclosure for distributing heated air from the burner when gas is communicated through the conduit and to the burner for combustion. A control system and a PC interface of a PC are located in the support enclosure to receive a data processing card having a predetermined temperature set point relating to temperature conditions within the building.

  • Patent number: 5813599
Abstract: A method of controlling ventilation and air quality within naturally ventilated livestock and poultry buildings comprises placing in a controller predetermined parameters of temperature and humidity for the building in question. Temperature and humidity sensors within the building are mounted above the floor with the temperature sensors being located directly above each of the animal or poultry pens. These sensors are connected to the controller to feed through the controller actual conditions of temperature and humidity within the building. The controller compares the actual conditions of temperature and humidity within the building with the predetermined parameters of temperature and humidity stored therein.

  • Patent number: 5767385
Abstract: An automated forced-choice dynamic-dilution olfactometer has an odor evaluation module having two or more panelist stations, with a plurality of sniffing ports at each station. At least one signal element at each station is connected to a data control unit. Separate air lines are connected to one each of the sniffing ports at each station. One of the air lines has an odor introduction port.

  • Patent number: 5707283
Abstract: A dual baffle system which can be incorporated into automatic air inlets used in livestock facilities. This system consists of four different components: two baffles, spring, opening mechanisms, and stationary bracket. This baffle system is positioned inside an automatic air inlet. The two baffles are hinged at the top and bottom of the inlet respectively and the opening between the baffles is allowed to increase or decrease. The opening mechanism is connected to the bottom baffle and allowed to slip through the stationary bracket. These two components allow the two baffles to open and close simultaneously. The spring allows the system to open and close to maintain the desired flow rate through the inlet.

  • Patent number: 5579719
Abstract: A gestation sow feeding system has a sow bedding enclosure, a gated scale weighing station, an alley connecting the scale weighing station with two separate feeding pens having entry and exist gates, and a bypass gate connecting the alley and the bedding enclosure. The traffic of sows through the system is monitored and controlled by a computer which controls the gates of the system, measures the weight and average daily gain of each sow weighed, and directs the weighed sow to the feeding pen for a ration of feed to permit the sow to adjust to a targeted average daily weight stored in the computer.
