Patent number: 11729443Abstract: In one embodiment, a method receives a network topology of a distributed access architecture and a legacy video network. Video streams include characteristics that are associated with delivery via the legacy video network. The method selects a set of anchor points for a remote physical device in the distributed access architecture where the set of anchor points are associated with a geographic location of the remote physical device. A set of attribute labels are selected for the set of anchor points where the set of attribute labels associated with characteristics of the video streams. The method then generates a definition of video streams based on the anchor points and the attribute labels for a remote physical device configuration and generates the remote physical device configuration for video. The remote physical device configuration is used to provide the video streams to the remote physical device.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2021Date of Patent: August 15, 2023Assignee: ARRIS Enterprises LLCInventors: Christopher Poli, Steven J. Moscirella, Roger D. Gahman, Robert Mack

Patent number: 11589134Abstract: Methods and systems of narrowcasting to a service group having one or more one-way set top boxes are shown and disclosed. The method may include receiving encrypted single program transport streams (SPTSs) from an encryptor, and receiving one or more session control signals for the SPTSs from a switched digital video (SDV) control system. The method may additionally include receiving service information (SI) packet identifiers (PIDs) for the SPTSs from a conditional access (CA) system, and updating the SI PIDs based on the one or more session control signals. The method may further include converting the SPTSs to narrowcast multiprogram transport streams (MPTSs) based on the one or more session control signals, and transmitting the narrowcast MPTSs and the updated SI PIDs to a plurality of edge quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) devices.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2021Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: ARRIS Enterprises LLCInventors: Steven J. Moscirella, Robert Mack, Michael Labouliere, Roger Gahman

Patent number: 7590886Abstract: Method and apparatus for facilitating device redundancy in a fault tolerant system is described. One aspect of the invention relates to common redundancy for a set of devices in a redundancy group. Each of the devices is in either an active role or a standby role. Virtual configurations for the devices are stored in a management system. Advertisements are periodically sent from each of the devices in the active role to each of the devices in the redundancy group. Each of the advertisements includes a configuration sequence number. An update in one of the virtual configurations is announced by incrementing the configuration sequence number in at least one of the advertisements. An updated virtual configuration is obtained at each of the devices in the standby role from the management system in response to detecting the configuration sequence number as incremented in the at least one advertisement.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2006Date of Patent: September 15, 2009Assignee: General Instruments, CorporationInventors: Steven J.
