  • Publication number: 20140301296
Abstract: A method and apparatus for decoding the LTE physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The transmissions are made by an evolved NodeB (eNB). At least one template symbol sequence representative of a potential transmission by the eNB over the PBCH is provided. A signal or signals transmitted over the PBCH by the eNB is received, the signal or signals indicative of a received symbol sequence. Correlation operations are performed for correlating the at least one template symbol sequence against the received symbol sequence. A representative symbol sequence, timing parameter, or both, is selected, based on the correlation operations. The representative symbol sequence is indicative of information transmitted by the eNB over the LTE PBCH. The timing parameter is indicative of timing of said information transmitted by the eNB.

  • Publication number: 20140292782
Abstract: A tile-based graphics system has a rendering space sub-divided into a plurality of tiles which are to be processed. Graphics data items, such as parameters or texels, are fetched into a cache for use in processing one of the tiles. Indicators are determined for the graphics data items, whereby the indicator for a graphics data item indicates the number of tiles with which that graphics data item is associated. The graphics data items are evicted from the cache in accordance with the indicators of the graphics data items. For example, the indicator for a graphics data item may be a count of the number of tiles with which that graphics data item is associated, whereby the graphics data item(s) with the lowest count(s) is (are) evicted from the cache.

  • Publication number: 20140269760
Abstract: Aspects relate to arbitrating access to an interconnect among multiple ports. For example, input ports receive requests for access to identified destination ports and buffer these in one or more FIFOs. A picker associated with respective FIFO(s) begins an empty arbitration packet that includes a location for each output port and fills one or more locations in the packet, such as based on a prioritization scheme. Each packet is passed in a ring to another picker, which performs a fill that does not conflict with previously filled locations in that packet. Each picker has an opportunity to place requests in each of the packets. Results of the arbitration are dispatched to reorder buffers associated with respective output ports and used to schedule the interconnect. Each arbitration cycle thus produces a set of control information for an interconnect to be used in subsequent data transfer steps.

  • Publication number: 20140282504
Abstract: A method for specifying the layout of computing system resources includes receiving a request for a virtual machine, the request comprising a processor requirement and a memory requirement, gathering resource groupings, each resource grouping comprising a latency penalty between a processor and at least a memory. The method further includes calculating a proportionality for each resource grouping, wherein the proportionality comprises a minimum of: an amount of the processor requirement the resource grouping can satisfy and an amount of the memory requirement the resource grouping can satisfy, sorting the resource groupings based on at least the proportionality for each resource grouping to create an ordered list and binding, based on the ordered list, at least one resource group to the virtual machine, wherein the at least one resource group satisfies the processor requirement and the memory requirement.
