  • Publication number: 20050118337
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use, in a pre-coating process, of a flash plating, without a subsequent chromate seal, as a surface pre-treatment for a ferrous-alloy substrate prior to applying a corrosion-inhibiting coating to improve the overall corrosion protection of the pre-treatment component. Preferably the ferrous alloy is a heat-treatable, precipitation-hardenable stainless steel and the pre-treatement is a cadmium flash plate or a zinc-nickel alloy flash plate.

  • Publication number: 20050112285
Abstract: A method for preparing and treating the surfaces of structural components, such as structural aircraft wing and fuselage skin panels, spar, spar assemblies, ribs, stiffeners, hinges, doors, etc., and the mechanical components attached to these aforementioned structural components, with a semi-permeable, corrosion-inhibiting organic coating. The method being particularly applicable for the improved sealing process of the faying surfaces of these aircraft components.

  • Publication number: 20050109158
Abstract: A method for preparing ultra-fine, submicron grain titanium or titanium-alloy articles (78) used for joining or assembling of detail components. Coarse-grained titanium or titanium-alloy materials (52) are severely mechanically deformed using cryogenic milling into an ultra-fine, submicron grain powder, degassed and consolidated under controlled pressure and temperature. The resulting fasteners, articles, or components manufactured from such material have improved material performance characteristics associated with this ultra-fine, submicron grain material structure.

  • Patent number: 5701514
Abstract: A computing system with a SCSI controller includes SCSI transmission mode selection apparatus and method to switch the transmission line drivers between transmitting in SCSI 1, SCSI 2 or another mode. The controller selects a maximum data transmission rate compatible with each peripheral device connected to the controller. A user-defined option code is decoded by the controller to provide the user with control over transmission mode options for the drivers in the controller. Based on the data transmission rate and the selected option, the controller selects the SCSI transmission mode to use for each driver type, acknowledge line or data lines.
