Patent number: 6157927Abstract: An interconnect for enabling a component in a transaction processing environment to request, as part of a global transaction under the control of a transaction manager that is not XATMI-compliant, a resource on a remote server outside of that environment that is under the control of an XATMI-compliant transaction manager, comprises a resource manager and a connection manager. The resource manager has a first interface that receives XATMI service requests from the component and a second interface that receives directives issued by the first transaction manager for the global transaction.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1998Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: Diane E. Patent number: 6141679Abstract: Multiple OSI TP service requests to which a particular AP-CRM interface call is mapped, and which are normally processed as individual events by an OSI TP protocol machine that conforms to the OSI TP Protocol Specification, are concatenated and processed by a modified OSI TP protocol machine as a single, atomic event. In this manner, performance and throughput are increased, while still maintaining conformance with the OSI TP Standard. Processing of OSI TP service requests will thus be optimized for the particular AP-CRM interface that the distributed transaction processing system supports. A new CRM-OSI TP programming interface is provided in place of the standard XAP-TP programming interface. The new interface maps each service of the particular AP-CRM interface to a respective, single service request of the new interface. Each service request of the new interface represents a concatenation of the OSI TP services to which the corresponding service of the particular AP-CRM is normally mapped.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1998Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: Diane E. Schaefer, Robert S. Baker, Steven L. Kayser

Patent number: 5832876Abstract: The invention is concerned with a pet animal structure for insertion into a transparent tank. The structure is in a single piece with upper and lower body parts. The lower body part has floors for movement of the animal and the upper body part has a shoulder which overhangs the lower body part. The upper body part when the structure is inserted an appropriate size tank, closes and extends into the top opening to the tank with the shoulder below the top opening so as to protect top regions of walls of the tank. Preferably, the upper body part has a downward facing support surface for supporting the structure upon a top edge of the tank so that the bottom of the structure is spaced from the bottom of the tank. Also advantageously, the floors are positioned to prevent the animal from gnawing at the shoulder while providing freedom for the animal to move between the structure and the tank when standing upon the bottom of the tank.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1997Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Inventors: Michael Brown, Kevin J.
