  • Patent number: 5340884
Abstract: This invention relates to a polyester/polyamide blend having an excellent gas barrier property and an improved flavor retaining property, and clarity. More particularly, the present invention relates to a polyethylene terephthalate/low molecular weight polyamide blend having an excellent gas barrier property, in which by reducing the concentration of acetaldehyde contained in the polyester, the storage property of a food or the like and the flavor-retaining property and fragrance retaining property are highly improved without producing haze.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 13, 1993
Date of Patent: August 23, 1994
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: David E. Mills, Steven L. Stafford
  • Patent number: 5266413
Abstract: This invention relates to a copolyester/polyamide blend having an improved flavor retaining property and clarity. More particularly, the present invention relates to an essentially noncrystalline copolyester containing poly(ethylene terephthalate) units blended with a critical amount of a nonhydroxyfunctional polyamide. The use of a nonhydroxyfunctional polyamide in a critical amount reduces the concentration of acetaldehyde contained in the poly(ethylene terephthalate) copolyester, and thus, improves the storage property, flavor retaining property, and fragrance retaining property of a food or the like.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 1992
Date of Patent: November 30, 1993
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: David E. Mills, Steven L. Stafford
