  • Patent number: 8215524
Abstract: A mechanical device for pulling on and removing socks which does not require any excessive bending or other extraneous body movement by the user. The device is primarily comprised of a triangular shaped sock mount attached to one end of an elongated shaft that terminates on a second end in a u-shaped handle containing hand operative controls. By engaging the hand operative controls the device can secure a sock to the sock mount while the user places their foot inside the sock. Disengaging the controls allows the user to remove the device from the sock while keeping their foot inside and enables the sock mount to rotate 180 degrees to expose the stationary elevated tongue that can then be used to remove the sock from the user's foot, can be used as a shoe horn, or to place the device in a storage position.

  • Patent number: 7032841
Abstract: A hand-held battery power sprayer is formed of a body having a spray nozzle, a trigger, and an internally threaded attachment collar having a passageway therethrough. The attachment collar removably receives a container. As battery powered pump is positioned within the body, the pump having an inlet and an outlet, the outlet being connected by a discharge tube to the spray nozzle and the inlet connected by a suction tube extending through the inlet collar passageway into the interior of a liquid-holding container when the container affixed to the attachment collar. A battery is contained within the body. A switch within the body is actuated by this trigger. Circuitry connects the battery, switch, and pump in series. A passive check valve member normally closes the passageway preventing fluid flow from the container into the body and is displaceable to permit air flow into the container.

  • Patent number: 6446848
Abstract: A boot jack that is removably attachable to a distal end of a rod so that the individual can grasp a proximal end of the rod and use the boot jack to remove their shoes while either sitting or standing. The boot jack has a v-shaped part between which the user can place the heel of their shoe to removably engage the shoe with the boot jack. A clamping structure attaches to the v-shape part for removably securing the boot jack around the distal end of the rod so that the boot jack extends outward away from the rod at approximately a 90-degree angle from the longitudinal axis of the rod.

  • Patent number: 4824040
Abstract: A spinning reel is disclosed and has a housing with a center shaft upon which a spool is mounted for holding a fishing line. A handle and gear train assembly are provided for rotatably driving a rotor which is coaxially mounted on the shaft. The rotor has bail ears upon which bail arms carrying a bail are mounted with the bail being movable between a closed retrieving position and an open casting position. A unique bail actuating mechanism is provided which rapidly moves the bail from the retrieving position to the casting position. The bail actuating mechanism has an overcenter spring apparatus which operates on one bail arm for holding the bail in the line retrieving position and, when manually moved beyond a certain point, drives the bail rapidly to the open casting position.

  • Patent number: 4778120
Abstract: A dual drag mechanism is provided for use in a spin cast reel having a body portion with a deck plate, a forwardly extending hub associated with the body portion, and a spool supported on the hub fowardly of the deck plate for rotation about an axis lengthwise of the reel. In one embodiment of the invention, a drag plate includes a body portion supported between the deck plate and the spool for applying pressure to the spool. The drag plate is anchored to the deck plate at a first point radially of the hub. A first drag actuating device is provided for engaging the drag plate at a second point radially of the hub and angularly of the first point, and including a first manually manipulatable actuator movable in a plane generally transverse to the reel axis.

  • Patent number: 4760974
Abstract: An improved fishing reel is provided with a flipping casting mode by mechanism operatively associated with the rotatable spinner head of the reel. A finger trigger is pivotally mounted on the housing of the reel and is operatively associated with the spinner head for effecting axial movement of the spinner head between a rearward retrieval position and a forward casting position. A stop member is selectively movable into the path of movement of the finger trigger for either allowing full axial movement of the spinner head between the retrieval and casting positions or for selectively limiting forward movement of the spinner head at an intermediate position short of the full casting position. In an alternate form, the stop member is fixed to limit forward movement of the spinner head.

  • Patent number: 4695009
Abstract: The structure is intended for incorporation into a conventional type fishing reel having a spool for retaining a supply of line, a crank handle and a drive train operable through the crank handle to direct line onto the spool. The drive train has at least one rotatable member which coacts with a clicker that is mounted on the reel movably between a first position wherein a portion of the clicker contacts the one rotating element of the drive train to produce an audible noise and a second position wherein the portion of the clicker is spaced from the drive train elements. An actuator associated with one of the rotating elements of the drive train, upon being rotated in a first direction, shifts the clicker to its first position in contact with one of the elements of the drive train. Upon the rotating element associated with the actuator being rotated oppositely to the first direction, the actuator causes the clicker to shift to its second position so that no sound will be produced as the reel is operated.

  • Patent number: 4637569
Abstract: A feathering and braking member is provided on the spinner head assembly associated with a spin cast reel and follows fore and aft movement of the spinner head assembly during normal operation of the reel. The feathering and braking member has a ring body and a forwardly facing, deformable ring edge which ring edge, upon encountering the inside surface of the reel cover, causes light line feathering. The ring edge is deformable so that upon the application of further forward pressure upon the spinner head assembly, the ring deforms to provide a greater contact area between the ring and the inside surface of the front cover so that feathering is increased.

  • Patent number: 4523726
Abstract: An improvement in an anti-reverse assembly of the type having a pivotable, planar pawl with a tooth engaging a ratchet associated with a rotatable crankshaft to prevent reverse rotation of the crankshaft. A pocket is provided by spaced walls integrally carried by a portion of the reel housing, within which pocket the pawl is pivotally located. A manually operable control member is extended through an opening in, and snap-fit with, the reel housing. The control member has a leg which overlaps the plane of the pawl to prohibit the escape of the pawl from the pocket. The leg has an operative surface which is selectively positionable by rotation of the control member either into or out of direct engagement with an edge on the pawl. When the control member is in engagement with an edge of the pawl, the pawl is locked in the disengaged position.

  • Patent number: 4522347
Abstract: A spring member for cooperative engagement with a rotatable drag adjustment wheel. The spring is anchored with the deck plate and has an associated, resilient arm for engagement with notches on the drag wheel. The spring inhibits rotation of the wheel to resist adjustment thereof and interacts with the notches to produce an audible click to remind the user to movement of the wheel.

  • Patent number: 4509705
Abstract: A spinning reel is provided with a housing, a rotor, a crank, drive assembly for rotating the rotor, an anti-reverse assembly for selectively preventing reverse rotation of the rotor, a centershaft with a line spool, a front drag assembly between the spool and the centershaft and a rear drag assembly between the housing and the centershaft. A locking means is provided on the rotor for locking the spool to the rotor and for locking the rotor to the housing so that long casts can be made with the reel. A bait clicker assembly is associated with the rear drag and is provided with a plunger which, when in the "off" position, will engage a ratchet wheel on the rear drag which will lock the rear drag, clicker and centershaft against rotation. Putting the plunger in the "on" position with the anti-reverse assembly in the "on" position will disengage the ratchet wheel so that the rear drag is operative.
