  • Publication number: 20200373700
Abstract: A connector For wires to be connected in harsh environment applications. This approach uses low pressure casting techniques. An alternative embodiment uses a thin, rigid stabilizer to position one or more contacts inside of the connector shell. Foamed polyurethane is injected inside the connector shell in liquid form. This encapsulates the stabilizer (when used) and forms an insulator around the contacts and wires. The polyurethane is bonded to the inside of the connector shell. The bonding strength of the polyurethane will form an environmental seal suitable for harsh environmental applications. In some cases a primer may be pre-applied to the inside of the connector shell the contacts, the wires, or the stabilizer to enhance the bonding of the polyurethane.

  • Patent number: 7940532
Abstract: The present invention relates, generally, to electrical power conversion devices and to the universal packaging of those devices for a wide range of applications yielding cost efficient inventory management of product lines consisting of a group of power conversion devices each with minor variations. More specifically, the present invention relates to a universal mounting frame for receiving a printed circuit board in a switch mode power supply. The universal frame is adapted for receiving an open frame or printed circuit board and securing the open frame within a plurality of known packaging configurations. To this end, only a single size printed circuit board is necessary for any type of switch mode power supply configurations, thereby, reducing costs associated with manufacture and testing.

  • Publication number: 20090181571
Abstract: A sealed cover and plastic cartridge combination for electrical connections providing sealing, strain relief, mechanical retention, electrical insulation and flex relief similar to that achieved using an over-molded design includes a plastic cartridge of integral construction or composed of two or more parts, in either case housing one or more contacts of the connections.

  • Publication number: 20030232530
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for providing power to electronic devices such as cellular telephones and accessories thereof. A power converter module, which may be either an AC or DC module and which delivers accessory usable power, mates with an accessory module through a pair of mating connectors. By supplying a standard interface between converter and accessory modules, a system of interchangeable modules can be used to produce accessories without duplication of what would otherwise be redundant components. The invention thus provides flexibility and reduces the cost and clutter of prior art systems and methods for powering cell phone accessories.

  • Patent number: 6623294
Abstract: An electrical adapter having a manually retractable cable assembly where the electrical contacts of the retractable cable assembly are disposed along an axis of rotation to minimize the friction between the cable and contacts therein when the cable is extended and retracted. The electrical adapter includes a housing; an electrical plug assembly including an interchangeable module coupled to an adapter module, the interchangeable module having a plurality of prongs for receiving a first voltage when mated with an electrical receptacle, and a converter electrically coupled to the assembly for converting the first voltage into a second voltage; and a retractable cable assembly supported by the housing and electrically coupled to the converter.
