    Abstract: A disposable absorbent article defining an absorbent chassis adapted to wrap around portions of a torso and a pair of side panels adapted to secure the absorbent chassis about the torso during use. The side panels include at least a pair of substantially inextensible zones and a zone of substantial elasticity providing partial extensiblity to the side panels. The side panels may be secured to the chassis at one of the inextensible zones and be provided with a fastener component at another inextensible zone. At least portions of opposed edges of the side panels are shaped into a nonparallel configuration to improve fit, comfort and exudate control of the absorbent article.
