Publication number: 20250224451Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for fault detection, diagnosis, and recovery in an electromechanical actuator. The system can include a data processing system having one or more processors and a memory. The data processing system can receive first electrical data from a first sensor positioned at a first terminal of a power source, in addition to second electrical data from a second sensor positioned at a second terminal of the power source. The data processing system can determine a first average value from the first electrical data and a second average from the second electrical data. The data processing system can determine a difference between the first average value and the second average value. The data processing system can detect a fault impedance according to a pattern of the difference over a measured time interval. The data processing system can provide an indication of the fault impedance.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 4, 2024Publication date: July 10, 2025Applicant: Hitachi Astemo, Ltd.Inventors: Nick Langovsky, Kevin McGrew, Terrance Yarmak, Anthony Robert Catanese, Steven Little

Patent number: 9016799Abstract: A method of increasing a dwell time of a slurry facility at a given ore processing location by using a mobile oil sands mining system. The method involves coordinating the operation of at least two mining conveyors to facilitate mining at least one arc-shaped sector of ore that otherwise would not be within operational reach of the slurry facility at the ore processing location. The method increases the slurry facility's operational time at the ore processing location before relocation thereof is required to keep the slurry facility within operational reach of at least one receding mine face.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2011Date of Patent: April 28, 2015Assignee: Suncor Energy, Inc.Inventors: Bradford E. Bjornson, Mario Decrescentis, John Steven Little, Paul Fredrick MacDougall

Patent number: 8025341Abstract: A process line for excavating and processing oil sands ore near a mine face. A mobile excavator excavates ore along the length of a mobile mining conveyor. A mobile comminutor receives and comminutes the excavated ore and transfers the comminuted ore to the mobile mining conveyor. The mobile mining conveyor conveys the comminuted ore to a transfer conveyor that conveys the comminuted ore to a mobile slurry facility. The mobile slurry facility combines the comminuted ore with process water to produce a slurry and pumps and conditions the slurry through a hydro-transport pipeline to a mobile extraction facility as a slurry feed. The mobile extraction facility receives the slurry feed and directs the slurry feed and a water stream as inputs to a three stage countercurrent cyclone separator. The cyclone separator produces a bitumen rich stream and a tailings stream.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2006Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: Suncor Energy Inc.Inventors: Bradford E. Patent number: 8025176Abstract: A blow molded, hollow plastic container including two opposed, relatively longer sidewall portions which alternate with two opposed, relatively shorter sidewall portions. A first of the relatively shorter sidewall portions includes a grip area, and the opposed second relatively shorter sidewall portion includes a pour area.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2006Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: Plastipak Packaging, Inc.Inventors: J. Publication number: 20110163469Abstract: The high-throughput fabrication of microparticles based on the double emulsion/solvent evaporation technique for screening and optimizing microparticle formulations for particular characteristics allows for the preparation of multiple microparticle formulations in parallel. The system involves the formation of an emulsion containing aqueous bubbles with the payload in an organic phase containing the polymer or polymer blend being used for the microparticles. This first emulsion is then transferred to a larger aqueous phase, and a second waterin-oil-in water emulsion is formed. The organic solvent is then removed, and the resulting particles are optionally washed and/or freeze dried. The resulting microparticles are similar or better than microparticles prepared using the traditional one formulation at a time approach. The high-throughput fabrication of microparticles is particularly useful in optimizing microparticles formulations for drug delivery.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2006Publication date: July 7, 2011Applicant: MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGYInventors: Steven Little, Daniel G.
