Patent number: 9216514Abstract: The invention features a razor for dispensing a fluid during shaving. The razor includes a handle, a razor cartridge, and a fluid dispensing member joined to the cartridge. The handle includes a cavity for housing a fluid and a manually-actuated pump to displace the fluid from the cavity through a connector port flowpath to an opening at the proximal end of the handle. The razor cartridge includes a cartridge connecting structure attached to the housing and an aperture that extends from the rear surface to the front surface of the housing. The fluid dispensing member is disposed in the cartridge connecting structure and includes a converging flowpath that is in fluid communication with the connector port flowpath and the aperture in the housing.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2013Date of Patent: December 22, 2015Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventors: Kelly Bridges, Michael H Bruno, Steven M Bourque, Hubert F Carneiro

Patent number: 6547471Abstract: An applicator for local application of a liquid to a person's skin. The applicator includes a porous dome, a chamber under the dome, a squeeze bottle providing a reservoir containing the liquid, and a tube from the squeeze bottle to the chamber. The porous dome has pores sized to provide liquid transport therein by capillary action. The chamber provides a location for liquid in position to be transported into dome. Increased pressure in the reservoir from squeezing the bottle causes liquid to flow from the reservoir through the tube to the chamber, and decreased pressure in the reservoir from releasing the bottle causes excess liquid in the chamber to flow from the chamber through the tube to the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2000Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventors: William E. Tucker, William T. O'Connor, Timothy G. Kerrissey, Steven M. Bourque

Patent number: 6405898Abstract: The invention features, in general, a foaming product that includes a container, a valve stem extending upward from the top of the container, a nozzle member, and a waste product containment region located above the top of the container. The valve stem is movable downward to permit discharge of the foaming product from the container through the stem. The nozzle member includes a flow passage for directing the foaming product from the top of the valve stem to a discharge outlet and a movable portion that is movable between a discharge position and an inactive position. When the movable portion is in the discharge position, the valve stem is actuated to permit discharge of product into the flow passage and out of the discharge outlet, and the flow passage does not communicate with the containment region.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2000Date of Patent: June 18, 2002Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventors: William T.
