  • Publication number: 20080088056
Abstract: A concrete form including a rigid substrate having at least one of a flat and curved surface, which are presented to poured concrete, and a flexible membrane lining at least the one flat or curved surface of the rigid substrate so as to have at least one flat or curved surface due to the respective flat or curved surface of the rigid substrate. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the flexible membrane comes into contact with the poured concrete, whereupon the cured concrete may be separated from the concrete form, in the absence of a release agent, to provide one or more corresponding flat or curved surfaces on the cured concrete, which surfaces require little to no finishing work.

  • Publication number: 20070093392
Abstract: Capsaicinoids that repel insects, reptiles, mammals, microorganisms and marine life are compounded with one or more ceramics or other inert material, into an environmentally friendly additive. The additive can be incorporated by extrusion, pultrusion, compression molding, casting or other suitable process into a wide range of products including, but not limited to, polymers, composites, paints, coatings, varnishes, shellacs, stains, sealants, preservatives, glues, adhesives, minerals, resins, latex, reinforced polymers, powders, foams and other similar classes of materials polymers, or combinations thereof. The repellency of the capsaicinoids remains effective for periods up to several years when the products are employed in their normal commercial uses.

  • Publication number: 20060275600
Abstract: Polymer-based composite materials comprising a polymer, such as high density polyethylene, and one or more functional fillers, such as powdered metals, carbon, or ceramics, are described. The composite materials can be used for concrete forming applications. For example, the polymer-based composite materials can be formed into sheets and laminated onto various non-metal substrates, such as plywood, for use as concrete pouring forms. The polymer-based composite materials can also be used as facings and liners for metal concrete pouring forms. The forms can be used multiple times without release agents and without staining or physically damaging the cured concrete. The polymer-based composite materials can be provided with various surface textures, patterns, and designs. Methods for bonding the polymer-based composite materials to various non-metal and metal substrates are also described.
