Abstract: The present invention provides a method for notifying a roaming or home network that a client associated with the home network has registered with a roaming network. A client of a home network registers with a roaming network. The roaming network alerts the home network of the registration of the client. The home network sends a message to an application. The message indicates that the client has registered with the roaming network. Messages for the roaming client can now be routed directly to the roaming network without having to first pass through the home network.

Abstract: A method for diagnosis of a mood disorder or predisposition therefor in a test subject is disclosed. The method includes the steps of determining binocular rivalry rate in the test subject and comparing the binocular rivalry rate with a corresponding reference rivalry rate to diagnose presence or absence of the mood disorder or predisposition therefor. Also disclosed is use of the diagnostic method in genetic linkage studies for the identification of the molecular defect(s) underlying these disorders, and for the identification of compounds which may alleviate such disorders.

Abstract: A method for determining the security level associated with transmissions in a telecommunications network includes means for alerting parties of the security status of the transmission. When a route interconnecting the parties includes an insecure link, an alert is provided so that the parties are aware of the insecure nature of the call before communications begin. Alternatively, the parties may elect to decline or alter content of the communications to preserve integrity.

Abstract: A communication system and method for supporting both POTS and high speed data services between a remote CPE interface, located at a subscriber premises, and a central office. An analog to digital converter transforms an analog POTS signal to a digital POTS signal, and a combiner circuit combines the digital POTS signal with a high speed data signal into a combined digital signal which preferably has a single communication spectrum. A power detector identifies a power failure at the remote CPE interface, and a life line communication path is established from the central office to the remote CPE interface in response to the power failure.

Abstract: A method for diagnosis of a mood disorder or predisposition therefor in a test subject is disclosed. The method includes the steps of determining an interhemispheric switch rate of the test subject, and comparing the switch rate with a corresponding reference switch rate to diagnose presence or absence of the mood disorder or predisposition therefor. In a preferred embodiment, the interhemispheric switch rate is determined by measuring the rate of binocular rivalry in the test subject. Also disclosed is an apparatus for diagnosis of a mood disorder or predisposition therefor, use of the diagnostic method in genetic linkage studies for the identification of the molecular defect(s) underlying these disorders, and for the identification of compounds which may alleviate such disorders.
