Patent number: 11627823Abstract: The automated package delivery receptacle provides a faster, easier, more delivery-person friendly, and more reliable method of ensuring that packages delivered to unattended locations are not stolen by porch pirates. The receptacle automatically detects any package that is placed on top of it. As soon as the person who delivered the package has departed, the top surface lifts up above the body of the receptacle, rotates to a vertical position, and drops the package into the interior compartment. The top then reverses its motion and returns to its resting horizontal position, locked and ready for another delivery. The receptacle's mechanism does not encroach at all on the receptable's interior compartment space while cycling. It is powered by a 12-volt automobile type battery connected to a motor controller that is programmed to drive a high-speed linear actuator to complete its open/close cycle in less than twenty seconds.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2022Date of Patent: April 18, 2023Inventor: Robert Steven Markman

Patent number: 9336385Abstract: A system and method for threat detection and management. The method includes: comparing the observed activity with a threat profile; generating a threat detection signal including threat information when the observed activity matches the threat profile; altering an operating characteristic of a client device in response to a threat response signal; receiving the threat information; evaluating the threat information; automatically determining an appropriate response to the threat detection signal based on an evaluation of the threat information; comparing the threat detection signal to known threat patterns; distributing new threat information if the threat detection signal does not match a known threat pattern; storing threat information; and providing a user interface information and controls for delivering control information over a control protocol.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2008Date of Patent: May 10, 2016Assignee: Adaptive Cyber Security Instruments, Inc.Inventors: Reid Spencer, Steven Markman, Terry Beaver

Patent number: 8396710Abstract: A distributed voice user interface system includes a local device which receives speech input issued from a user. Such speech input may specify a command or a request by the user. The local device performs preliminary processing of the speech input and also provides the speech input to a remote system. The local device is able to update its recognition capabilities based on analysis of the speech, input by the remote system.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2011Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Ben Franklin Patent Holding LLCInventors: George M. White, James J. Buteau, Glen E. Shires, Kevin J. Surace, Steven Markman

Publication number: 20120072221Abstract: A distributed voice user interface system includes a local device which receives speech input issued from a user. Such speech input may specify a command or a request by the user. The local device performs preliminary processing of the speech input and determines whether it is able to respond to the command or request by itself. If not, the local device initiates communication with a remote system for further processing of the speech input.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2011Publication date: March 22, 2012Applicant: Ben Franklin Patent Holding, LLCInventors: George M. WHITE, James J. Buteau, Glen E. Shires, Kevin J. Surace, Steven Markman
