  • Patent number: 5715563
Abstract: A windshield wiper adaptor system that fits hook, bayonet and small and large pin wiper arm styles is disclosed. A bracket semi-permanently snap fits to a spring steel flat strip wiper frame. Adaptors fit to the bracket. The bayonet arm adaptor uses an easily molded slot to provide the detent for holding the arm. A resilient element presses the bayonet arm from below. The hook/bayonet adaptor pin, and pin arm adaptors, are held in the bracket by a barbed resilient arm attached to the pins. A further extension on the resilient arm of the pin arm adaptors engages the pin arm annular groove. Deflecting the arm causes the barb to engage the bracket while the same motion engages the pin arm groove. The adaptors could also be used in a convention frame where the bracket is not applicable.

  • Patent number: 5701495
Abstract: An interrupt subsystem within a data processing system is scalable from low-end uni-processor systems to high-end multi-processor (MP) systems. This interrupt subsystem provides for queueing of interrupts from many sources, and for queueing of interrupts to the best processor in a multi-processor system. The external interrupt mechanism is separated into two layers, an interrupt routing layer and an interrupt presentation layer. The interrupt routing layer routes the interrupt conditions to the appropriate instance of an interrupt management area within the interrupt presentation layer. The interrupt presentation layer communicates the interrupt source to the system software which is to service/process the interrupt. By providing two layers within the interrupt subsystem, application or system software can be written which is independent from the types or sources of interrupts. The interrupt routing layer hides the details of a particular hardware implementation from the software.

  • Patent number: 5699949
Abstract: A manually powered fastening tool which stores and instantly releases the energy of a spring such that it may force a staple or other fastener into an object by an impact blow is disclosed. An actuating lever engages a plunger in an upward motion against a spring bias and in a sideways direction in a release motion. An arcing motion of the lever causes an element of the lever to rotate and slide rearward from the plunger and disengage from the plunger, thereby allowing the lever to slide sideways off an angled surface of the plunger. The plunger, once released and under spring bias, strikes a staple and drives the staple out from the tool into the object.

  • Patent number: 5684980
Abstract: An array of FPGAs change their configurations successively during performance of successive user-defined algorithms. Adjacent FPGAs are connected through external field programmable interconnection devices (FPINs) or cross-bar switches. The array includes a processor-like device capable of performing the computations necessary to reconfigure the FPGAs in the array in accordance with the next algorithm to be performed. Preferably, this processor-like device is itself a "control" array of interconnected FPGAs which have been configured to emulate a selected microprocessor architecture which accepts user-defined primitives corresponding to an algorithm to be performed or a logic architecture to be emulated and reconfigure the FPGAs and the FPINs accordingly.

  • Patent number: 5673399
Abstract: A data processing system includes a host processor, a number of peripheral devices, and one or more bridges which may connect between the host, peripheral devices and other hosts or peripheral devices such as in a network. Each bridge, such as a PCI host bridge, connects between a primary bus (e.g system bus) and a secondary bus wherein for the purpose of clarity, the primary bus will be considered as the source for outbound transactions and the destination for inbound transactions and the secondary bus would be considered the destination for outbound transactions and the source for inbound transactions. The host bridge includes an outbound data path, an inbound data path, and a control mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5664722
Abstract: A manually powered fastening tool which stores and instantly releases the energy of a spring such that it may force a fastener into an object by an impact blow in which the operating handle is hinged near the end of the tool body opposite the end from which the staples exit. The main spring is a single piece flat torsion spring which decreases in cross-section away from its fulcrum point to enable the entire spring to provide energy storage. The operating handle is linked to the spring through a low friction rolling element which provides varying leverage to allow a constant operating force through the operating handle motion. The staple guide track includes position and latch feature within a one piece assembly.

  • Patent number: 5657403
Abstract: A coprocessor in an image processing system is coupled to the bus to which a CPU and RAM holding image data are also coupled. The coprocessor extracts an input pixel stream corresponding to input images from selected bus transactions, performs computations on the input stream to produce output pixel streams corresponding to output images, and inserts the output pixel streams into selected CPU-to-memory bus transactions so that the memory stores the data. The CPU generates the selected bus transactions with specially marked address and/or control signals. The coprocessor includes a lookup table, and a first row delay. The row delay accumulates the three most recent rows of input pixels, which are sent to Sobel and rank processing sections for neighborhood processing. The results are thresholded and formatted, and are either output directly or passed through an additional pair of row delays to accumulate three rows of result data for neighborhood peak detection.

  • Patent number: 5639177
Abstract: An intermediate steering shaft including a polygonal tubular shaft, a polygonal solid shaft telescopically received in the polygonal tubular shaft, a spring which thrusts the solid and tubular shafts in opposite lateral directions to eliminate lash attributable to running clearance between the solid and tubular shafts, and a control operative from outside of the tubular shaft to relieve the lateral thrust of the spring. The solid shaft has an outside longitudinal groove facing an inside longitudinal groove in the tubular shaft and cooperating with the inside longitudinal groove in defining a longitudinal passage between the solid and tubular shafts. The spring is a helical coil spring wedged between the inside and the outside longitudinal grooves. The control includes a lever on the coil spring and a lateral slot in the tubular shaft through which the lever protrudes.
