  • Publication number: 20200290918
Abstract: Systems and methods for automated, sequential processing of a continuous glass ribbon by conveying the glass ribbon in a ribbon travel direction, forming a score line in the glass ribbon, separating a glass sheet from the glass ribbon at the score line while supporting the glass sheet with a transfer device, lowering the glass sheet onto a conveyor, and conveying the glass sheet in a sheet travel direction differing from the ribbon travel direction. By transferring and then conveying the glass sheet in a direction differing from the ribbon travel direction (e.g., a 90 degree turn) immediately after glass sheet separation, the systems and method of the present disclosure are conducive to streamlined production of glass sheets utilizing a unique production floor footprint.

  • Publication number: 20190232755
Abstract: An HVAC air intake for a vehicle, includes an air intake housing disposed outside of a passenger compartment of the vehicle. A fresh air inlet is defined in an upper portion of the air intake housing. A drain is disposed in a sump portion of the air intake housing to drain water from the sump portion. A recirculation door is disposed in a recirculation airflow doorway defined in the air intake housing below the fresh air inlet and above the sump portion. The recirculation door prevents air from flowing upwardly, and water from flowing downwardly through the recirculation airflow doorway when the recirculation door is closed. A conduit is disposed in the air intake housing to convey water from the upper portion of the air intake housing, around the recirculation door, to the sump portion when the recirculation door is closed.

  • Publication number: 20170228391
Abstract: Cache optimization for missing data is provided. A database system receives a first request for a database record. The database system determines whether the database record is stored in a cache. The database system determines whether the database record is stored in a data store in response to a determination that the database record is not stored in the cache. The database system stores a dummy entry for the database record in the cache in response to a determination that the database record is not stored in the data store. The database system receives a second request for the database record. The database system determines whether the database record is stored in the cache. The database system outputs an indication that the database record is unavailable in response to a determination that the dummy entry stored for the database record is in the cache.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for recording, maintaining, and reporting tips and gratuities, optionally including details such as employee, task performed, and shift. In one aspect, inter-employee tip and gratuity transactions are tracked and verified. In another aspect, taxing authority forms and/or returns are automatically generated with substantially decreased administration time and cost, thereby facilitating a user's participation in voluntary taxing authority programs. Additionally, the training required by such programs is automatically monitored. In yet another aspect, tips and/or gratuities may be paid as wages. In another aspect of the present invention, employees are provided an opportunity to increase declared tips if the originally declared tips place employee in jeopardy of an audit. In another aspect, interfaces to third-party systems such as POS systems, payroll systems, and the like are provided to further minimize system administration time and data accuracy.

  • Patent number: 7654730
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing material in a container includes a platform mounted for simultaneous movement on at least two axes and for supporting a container containing material to be mixed. A motor can be operatively associated with the platform to move the platform on the two axes. A container holding assembly having a vertical extent can be carried by the platform, and is moveable between a closed position in which the holding assembly is positioned proximate the container to retain the container on the platform during mixing operations, and an open position in which the holding assembly is positioned away from the container so that the container can be removed from the platform without lifting the container over the vertical extent of the holding assembly. The platform can be contained within a housing having a low profile opening such that the container can be removed without elevating the container.

  • Patent number: 7388726
Abstract: A disk drive includes a slider assembly and a controller that directs current to the slider assembly to dynamically adjust the head-to-disk spacing. In one embodiment, the slider assembly includes a write element having a first end, a second end and an intermediate section, a conductor that is connected to the intermediate section. In this embodiment, the controller directs electrical current through the conductor to heat the write element without writing data to a storage disk. The electrical current can be directed through the conductor at any time prior to data transfer or during data transfer. Heating the write element causes a deformation of the slider assembly to decrease the head-to-disk spacing. In another embodiment, the slider assembly includes a separate slider deformer. Electrical current is selectively directed to the slider deformer to cause a deformation of the slider assembly to obtain a desired head-to-disk spacing.
