Patent number: 9033905Abstract: A pneumatic compression garment includes a flexible member for placement on a limb of a human body. A bladder in the flexible member defines an inflatable chamber. The bladder has an opening through which the inflatable chamber is inflated. A port mounted on the bladder has an air inlet adapted for communication with a source of pressurized air and an air outlet in communication with the inflatable chamber via the opening in the bladder. Pressurized air is delivered from into the inflatable chamber for inflating the inflatable chamber and thereby applying a compression force to the limb when the flexible member is in place on the limb. An air diverter affixed to an inside surface of a first sheet of the bladder and configured to divert air entering the inflatable chamber from directly impinging against an inside surface of a second sheet of the bladder.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2013Date of Patent: May 19, 2015Assignee: Covidien LPInventors: Premnarayan Ganapathy, Steven Nardi, Paul Becker

Patent number: 8562549Abstract: A compression device includes an inflatable member and a frame member extending along substantially an entirety of the perimeter edge margin of the inflatable member. The frame member imparts rigidity to the inflatable member so that rigidity of the inflatable member at the perimeter edge margin is greater than the rigidity of the inflatable member inside the perimeter edge margin.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2008Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Assignee: Covidien LPInventors: Steven Nardi, Malcolm G. Bock

Patent number: 8192380Abstract: A compression device for applying compression to a part of a wearer's body. The device includes a bladder including first and second of fluid impermeable layers secured to one another to define an inflatable chamber. The device includes a substantially rigid counterforce component having an opening. An attachment member extends outward from the first layer of the bladder. The attachment member is received in the opening of the counterforce component to attach the counterforce component to the bladder.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2008Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: Tyco Healthcare Group LPInventor: Steven Nardi

Patent number: 8162863Abstract: A compression foot cuff includes a counterforce component adjacent to a first impermeable layer of an inflatable member. The counterforce component includes a generally rigid sole for applying a counterforce to the inflatable member and an anchor member extending outward from the sole. The anchor member is secured to or formed as one piece with the port to position the sole with respect to the inflatable member.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2009Date of Patent: April 24, 2012Assignee: Tyco Healthcare Group LPInventors: Steven Nardi, Malcolm G. Bock, David Rork Swisher

Publication number: 20090227921Abstract: A compression foot cuff includes a sole adjacent to a first impermeable layer of an inflatable bladder. The sole can be flexed in at least one direction. In one version, the sole resists flexing in one direction and allows flexing in another, opposite direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 4, 2008Publication date: September 10, 2009Applicant: TYCO HEALTHCARE GROUP LPInventor: Steven Nardi

Publication number: 20070205580Abstract: A system, method, and device for hitching a trailer to a vehicle are disclosed. The exemplary system may have a receiving plate with a distal end formed with or coupled to the socket portion. The receiving plate may extend to a proximal end from the socket at an incline. The proximal end may be wider than the distal end. Two support members may extend substantially beyond a socket portion. Two side plates may extend at a downward angle from each side edge of the receiving plate between the proximal end and proximal end. The two side plates may extend downwards to interfere with sharp angled turning.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2006Publication date: September 6, 2007Applicant: Hamilton Marine LLCInventors: Bruce Hamilton, Steven Nardi

Publication number: 20070084395Abstract: A system, method, and device for docking and mooring a watercraft are disclosed. The exemplary device may have a ferrous material or an electromagnetic generator coupled to the watercraft, including a ferrous-hulled watercraft. The device may also have an electromagnetic generator coupled to the dock for selectively generating a magnetic field to attract or oppose a magnetic force field created by the on-board electromagnetic generator. A control device may be used to activate the electromagnetic generators. A communication device may be used to communicate with the control device to activate the electromagnetic generator.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2006Publication date: April 19, 2007Applicant: Hamilton Marine, LLCInventors: Bruce Hamilton, Steven Nardi
