  • Patent number: 9326056
Abstract: A low-voltage electronic device receptacle may include a back wall, one or more side walls extending from the back wall, and a flange extending outward from the one or more side walls, wherein the back wall includes a forwardly-extending generally convex protrusion making up greater than 10% of the back wall. An enclosure for installing a speaker in a building structure having first and second support members and an outer layer may include a receptacle including a back wall, one or more side walls, and a flange extending outwardly from the one or more side walls, wherein the receptacle may be positioned between the first and second support members, the back wall includes a generally convex protrusion extending toward the outer layer, and the speaker may be mounted to the outer layer and a portion of the speaker may deflect at least a portion of the protrusion away from the outer layer.

  • Patent number: 7282646
Abstract: Apparatus and systems for holding and locating one or more wires within a structure are disclosed. A wire support in accordance with the present invention may include a foldable or bendable body including one or more apertures configured to receive an elongated member therethrough. The wire support may include mounting tabs for attaching the wire support to a structural member such as a wall stud or ceiling joist. The mounting tabs may includes several arcuate-shaped flaps adapted to bend or flex about the ends of the body. In use, the wire support can be configured to attach to a structure in a generally flat configuration, or may be folded or bent to a desired shape such as a polyhedron or an L.

  • Publication number: 20070170086
Abstract: A box for receiving an electrical device and preserving the vapor barrier, which may include a wall defining a cavity having an opening, the wall having a perimeter proximate the opening, a base, a first pair of flanges disposed on the perimeter attachable to a first surface of a structural member of a building and a first surface of a second structural member, a pair of flaps disposed on the perimeter, a second set of flanges disposed on the flaps for attachment to the first and second structural member, the second flange attachable to the first surface of the structural member or to a second surface of the structural member different from the first surface when the first flange is attached to the structural member, and a third set of flanges disposed on the flaps. A method of use thereof includes installing the box between two structural members such that the two structural members, the base, the perimeter and the flaps create a cavity for the installation of a low voltage electronic device.

  • Patent number: 6437241
Abstract: A receptacle for enclosing low-voltage electronic devices and maintaining the integrity of a vapor barrier. The receptacle includes a base, and four side walls. Each side wall is joined to two adjacent side walls to form a perimeter wall. The perimeter wall is joined to the base and extends from it in a generally perpendicular fashion. The perimeter wall and base delineate a generally rectangular enclosure with five closed sides and one open side. A mounting flange is joined to the four side walls and extends from them in a generally perpendicular fashion. The receptacle is positioned within a wall of a building so as to allow at least one flange direct contact with a structural member. The structural members of the wall and the receptacle are both covered with a barrier film. The barrier film is sealingly attached to the flange.
