  • Publication number: 20240174555
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of reusing at least a portion of the scrap glass generated in a cellular glass manufacturing process by introducing the scrap glass back into a cellular glass manufacturing process. The methods comprise changing the overall glass composition allowing for higher oxidizer content, which, in turn, allows for inclusion of more scrap material in the glass melt and the cellular glass production process. In particular, the glass composition in the melt is treated to increase the amount of an oxidizer (e.g., MnO2) to amounts above those that are used in conventional manufacturing processes, while also maintaining important physical properties in the ultimate cellular glass product.

  • Patent number: 11867345
Abstract: An insulation material comprising an insulation material substrate with a substrate surface, the insulation material further having a plurality of protrusions affixed to or integrated into substrate surface, each protrusion having an abutting surface distal to a protrusion base and a protrusion body connecting the abutting surface and the protrusion base, and each protrusion having an abutting surface height of at least 2 mm, wherein the abutting surface height is the shortest distance between the plane of the abutting surface and the plane of the protrusion base.

  • Publication number: 20220275901
Abstract: A cellular glass system for an outer surface of a pipe or vessel. The insulation system has an outer surface and an inner surface and comprised of segments of cellular glass. A sealant is provided at the interface between the individual cellular glass segments and is configured to limit water intrusion and prevent corrosion.
