  • Patent number: 9552331
Abstract: A method and apparatus that allows a user to specify whether his web page has primarily row or column layout. Web page editor software designed in accordance with the present invention generates the internal representation of a page (such as HTML) differently depending on how the user specifies the web page. A preferred embodiment of the present invention defaults to a primarily row layout, but allows the user to specify a primarily columnar layout by checking a box displayed by the editor. The editor generates an HTML table representing the page (or each frame of the page). Within the main HTML table, the editor generates HTML subtables, depending on whether the page is laid out using primarily row or column layout. The subtables are defined in such a way that the various elements of the page lined up in either a row or column direction, thus minimizing the problems.

  • Publication number: 20020010607
Abstract: A system for processing multiple schedules, constructed in accordance with the principle of the present invention, includes an information processing system having a memory and a processor; an input device for entering user information; a display device for showing scheduling information; an interface for sending and/or receiving information from another source; and means for reconciling two schedules by building synchronized lists, from which the user may effect a reconciliation.

  • Patent number: 5603021
Abstract: An electronic spreadsheet system of the present invention includes a Formula Composer having a preferred interface and methods for assisting a user with composing spreadsheet formulas. The Composer provides the user with simultaneous formula outline and subexpression (text) views of a given formula. Using the formula outline view, the user may isolate a particular portion (subexpression) of a formula for editing. The Formula Composer also provides a Formula Expert, which is displayed by the system upon the user selecting a spreadsheet function in a formula being edited. In addition to providing specific information about the selected spreadsheet function, the Formula Expert provides input fields which are specific for the arguments of the selected function. Moreover, the Formula Expert includes mode expressions or "templates" for assisting users in inputting correct argument information. Using pattern matching technique, the system may employ the templates for eliminating common user input mistakes.

  • Patent number: 5519606
Abstract: A method for reconciling multiple schedules having time slots on a computer system including a processing unit, system memory, display device, and input device. An interval is selected which is common to the schedules and derived schedules are created for each schedule using the common interval. The derived schedules are then synchronized by matching like time slots of the derived schedules. Empty time slots are inserted into each derived schedule to correspond to time slots in the schedules that conflict. The resulting schedules are displayed on the display device for user reconciliation.
