  • Publication number: 20080201464
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer programming media useful in the identification and prevention of fraudulent activity on computer networks. In various aspects the invention provides methods, systems, and programming for monitoring requests received by network resources for access to data by remote signal sources. Signal source identifiers such as URLs associated with original and referred data requests are checked for satisfaction of one or more trustworthiness criteria. If the network identifier associated with the remote signal source does not satisfy the trustworthiness criteria, data associated with the untrusted signal source is assessed to determine whether it comprises fraudulent or suspicious content. If the data comprises fraudulent or suspicious content, the source of the data can be referred for further investigation or enforcement action, either by the operator or processor assessing the data, or by a network enforcement resource such as network standards or law enforcement agencies.

  • Patent number: 5540041
Abstract: Apparatus for stress relieving multistranded cable includes a rotatable cradle of a double twist strander which carries a plurality of guide sheaves, a dual wheel capstan, and a take-up reel and a pay-off reel arranged to substantially reduce the length of the path of travel of the advancing cable and to impart stress relieving rotation and tension to the advancing cable. After the cable has been payed off of a stationary pay-off reel, it is advanced to a pair of metering sheaves to fix the starting point of the stress relieving process. From the metering sheaves, the cable advances to the dual wheel capstan mounted for rotation with the take-up reel on the cradle of the strander.

  • Patent number: 5475312
Abstract: A method and device for distinguishing between partial discharge and electrical noise in high voltage conductors such as in motor and generator stators, power cables, gas insulated switchgear and other equipment where high voltage insulation is subject to deterioration. A series of comparators sets a trigger threshold and a voltage range, set by a computer, whereby pulses falling within the voltage range are sampled at four short intervals and then four longer intervals to produce a general pulse width profile. The voltage range is varied by the computer so that a number of voltage ranges are sampled during each selected portion of an ac cycle. The pulse width of pulses falling within each voltage range is recorded by the computer, and displayed graphically. In a preferred embodiment the device is provided with two channels, for receiving a signal from each end of a partial discharge detector described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,949,001.

  • Patent number: 5263309
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for balancing a multi-bay cabler system when less than all of the cabler frame bays are supplied with a supply bobbin are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a mechanical counterweight system which compensates for a depleting strand supply during operation of the cabler system, thereby equalizing centrifugal loading within the rotating strander frame and maintaining its dynamic balance at full design speed during the cable assembly operation. The counterweight system is installed in a bobbin-carrying cradle of an unused cabler frame bay. According to a first embodiment, the counterweight is driven in a linear path relative to the cradle in a direction normal to the rotational axis of the cabler frame. According to a second embodiment, the counterweight is driven in an arc relative to its supporting cradle.

  • Patent number: 5213644
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for applying a moisture block compound to a stranded electrical conductor using a double twist buncher apparatus are disclosed. An oil, such as drawing oil, is applied to the outer layer of wires to prevent "rolling" of the moisture block compound to the exterior of the stranded conductor. An improved applicator is also disclosed for applying the moisture block compound to the core of the stranded conductor in a coating having a precisely controlled thickness.

  • Patent number: 5126677
Abstract: An apparatus for the deletion of extraneous signals to a radio frequency monitor is described having a first radio frequency sensor disposed at the neutral common ground of a dynamoelectric machine and delivering radio frequency signals from all sources to a switch at the input of a radio frequency monitor and further having auxiliary radio frequency sensors disposed at sources of normal radio frequency activity and providing signals of such normal activity to a deletion pulse generator which issues a blocking pulse to said switch thereby deleting RF noise from normal sources which otherwise may produce false warnings and restrict the diagnostic utility of radio frequency monitoring of an electric power generator or an electric motor.

  • Patent number: 4961887
Abstract: An apparatus and process for manufacturing insulation for metallic rod which includes a mechanism for housing a plurality of ingredients, scales for weighing a predetermined quantity of each ingredient, a blender for blending predetermined amounts of each ingredient into one material, a mixer to mix the dry blend of ingredients, a mill to form the blended material into strips, a dicer to transform the strips into pellets of insulation, an extruder for placing insulation around the metallic rod, a conveyor to transport the ingredients and/or material between each of the above steps, a controller for outputting commands to the blender and receiving inputs from the scales to obtain the predetermined amount of each ingredient, and a computer for verifying that the correct amount of each ingredient has been obtained. The ingredients used in the manufacture of this insulation material include plasticizers, fillers, a resin, and modifiers.
