  • Patent number: 9018599
Abstract: A method of sensing scale build up on piping exposed to wellbore fluids, which includes the steps of sensing the build up of scale on the wall an injector pipe using fluorescence detection, generating a signal representative of the relative scale build up on injector pipe wall, and communicating that signal to a remote location.

  • Publication number: 20140007940
Abstract: Disclosed are thermoplastic resin formulations for use as a light transmitting layer (e.g., encapsulant layer) in a photovoltaic module comprising: (a) a light transmitting thermoplastic resin, (b) at least one down conversion material that exhibits a maximum in incident radiation absorption in the range of 280 to 500 nm and a maximum in radiation emission at a relatively longer wavelength in the range of 400 to 900 nm and improves the efficiency of photovoltaic electric current generation in a photovoltaic module; and (c) a light stabilizer additive that transmits at least about 40 percent of the ultraviolet (UV) electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength in the range of from about 280 nm to about 380 nm. Also disclosed are sheet materials prepared from such resins and photovoltaic modules incorporating such sheet materials.

  • Patent number: 5433861
Abstract: This invention relates to the preparation of, and a device for using, a permanently deformed sulfonated halopolymer article. A flexible and non-brittle flange may be formed from at least one end of a hollow perfluorosulfonic acid membrane in one aspect of the invention. The flanged membrane is particularly useful for quick attachment and detachment to various instrumentation used for pervaporation. In addition, by packing the membrane with a means for increasing radial diffusion of fluid within the membrane, pervaporation efficiency may be increased.

  • Patent number: 5231466
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for monitoring the relative concentration of an analyte in a fluid stream, with such apparatus including a capillary tube for containing the flowing fluid, optics for directing a single beam of monochromatic light through the capillary tube to produce a diffraction pattern having a number of interference fringes. A translatable photodiode is provided to monitor a portion of one of the fringes passing through a light limiting slit, whereby a signal proportional to the concentration of the analyte in the fluid is produced based upon the varying intensity of the monitored fringe. The capillary tube is preferably provided as a fused silica member having an inner flow diameter of 100 micrometers or less.
