  • Patent number: 9334943
Abstract: A power train apparatus and motor grader are described. The apparatus or motor grader includes a power source for providing rotational mechanical power. A first output interface of the power source is driven by the rotational mechanical power from the power source and rotates around a first axis A differential includes at least one output shaft rotating around a second axis offset from and parallel to the first axis. A first gear is included in the differential, the first gear rotating around the second axis and providing rotational mechanical power to the at least one output shaft of the differential. A second gear rotates around the first axis, the second gear receiving rotational mechanical power from the output interface to the power source and providing rotational mechanical power to the first gear.

  • Publication number: 20160053782
Abstract: A power train and related vehicle are described for storage and delivery of supplemental power. A power conversion device may receive power from an engine or other component of a vehicle and may provide power to an energy storage device. A supplemental power device may receive power from the energy storage device and provide power to a supplemental power coupling via a one-way power transfer device. The supplemental power coupling may provide the power from the supplemental power device, as received via the one-way power transfer device, to a crank shaft or other component of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7585247
Abstract: A six-speed automatic transmission for a vehicle includes a transmission housing, an input member, an output member, three planetary gearsets for changing a ratio of torque between the input member and the output member, clutch assemblies to selectively couple the input member to predetermined members of the planetary gearsets, and brake assemblies to selectively couple predetermined members of the planetary gearsets to the transmission housing. The transmission achieves an improved gear ratio spacing and, correlatively, enhanced vehicle drivability, performance, and fuel economy, by respectively permanently coupling the planetary carrier of the first gearset with the sun gear of the second gearset, the annulus gears of the first and third gearsets with the planetary carrier of the second gearset, and the output member with both the annulus gear of the second gearset and the planetary carrier of the third gearset.

  • Patent number: 6067495
Abstract: An shift control strategy for controlling an automatic transmission based on acceleration. The shift control strategy determines a learned vehicle inertia as well as road load torque and expected torque in an upshift gear. A projected post shift acceleration is predicted based on the expected torque, road load torque and inertia of the vehicle. If vehicle speed and throttle position are within an allowable shift zone and if the predicted post shift acceleration exceeds a threshold value, the vehicle automatic transmission is allowed to upshift. The predicted post upshift acceleration value is determined as a function of a selected one of the possible downshifts and is compared to a threshold value. A downshift of the automatic transmission to the selected downshift is allowed if the post downshift acceleration value is less than the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 5738605
Abstract: An anti-hunt transmission control strategy for controlling an automatic transmission so as to prevent the occurrence of a shift hunting condition. The control strategy determines a learned vehicle inertia as well as road load torque and expected torque in an upshift gear. Otherwise, should the predicted post shift acceleration not exceed the threshold value, an upshift is prevented.
