  • Patent number: 9678359
Abstract: Eyewear with interchangeable magnetically-held stems and strap connectors utilize overlapping magnets with aligned magnetic poles where the poles are orthogonal to the axes of insertion of the magnets. A hook or pawl can be added to one of the magnetics and an indentation added to the other to create a physical as well as magnetic connection.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 19, 2015
Date of Patent: June 13, 2017

  • Patent number: 7661815
Abstract: An eyeframe system includes a rimwire and an interchangeable lenspiece. A hinged closure on the rimwire fastens the lenspiece to the rimwire. The closure includes a magnetic closure that slides beneath a nose bridge of the rimwire. The closure is held closed by mechanical and magnetic forces. The system can include a plurality of different lenspieces that are interchanged to attach lenses with different qualities.

  • Patent number: 7452069
Abstract: An eyeframe uses a magnetic closure to attach a variety of interchangeable lenspieces to the eyeframe. The magnetic closure allows the wearer to interchange lenses depending on the circumstance. Furthermore, the magnetic closure securely closes but does not wear with use or require so much force that could lead to damaging the lenses and/or closure.

  • Patent number: 6409335
Abstract: Foldable eyewear includes first and second lens rims, a bridge portion between the first and second lens rims, connectors between the bridge and the first and second lens rims, and at least one spring positioned at a folding hinge that rotatably joins the bridge portion and a lens rim-bridge connector. The spring-hinged mechanism that joins the bridge portion and a lens rim-bridge connector allows the user to fold one lens rim on top of the other for compact storage while preventing unwanted instability and unwanted transitions between the folded and unfolded positions. The spring-hinged mechanism allows the lens rim-bridge connector to “hyper-extend” relative to the bridge portion to absorb impact/force without breaking.
