  • Patent number: 8771251
Abstract: In example methods and systems described, a medical device can store information locally and in a separate database on a server, for example. If the device fails, or a patient is moved to a second device, information may be transferred to the second device such that the second device can resume a complex therapy at a point where the initial medical device left off. The data necessary to restart the complex therapy system may include certain underlying patient-specific parameters according to a model capturing the patient's physiological response to the medication in question. As a result, it is not necessary for the second device to restart the complex therapy or regress to an initial set of baseline assumptions.

  • Patent number: 8768719
Abstract: A system, method and computer program for programming a medical device to administer a medication to a patient includes the medical device, a scanner that may be associated with a point of care (POC) system, and a medication management unit (MMU). A computer in the POC system can directly program the medical device with the permission of the MMU after a full “five rights” check or the “right patient” check can be delayed until after the pump program is downloaded. Other workflows are disclosed for programming the medical device in manual, semi-automatic and automatic modes, with safety checks incorporated at various points.

  • Patent number: 8660860
Abstract: A method and system for synchronizing medication configuration information. A primary medication configuration computer is adapted to receive medication configuration content from a medication configuration content source. The primary medication configuration computer is also adapted to generate medication configuration change information and transmit the medication configuration change information to an ancillary medication configuration computer, adapted to receive the medication configuration change information from the primary medication configuration computer. The ancillary medication configuration computer is also adapted to filter the medication configuration change information by applying a filtering rule to generate filtered medication configuration change information.

  • Publication number: 20100280486
Abstract: A method of delivering medication to a patient utilizing a medication delivery system is provided. A first medication to be delivered to the patient is supplied. The patient's identity is verified. The first medication is selected on a user interface to be delivered to the patient. The volume of the medication the patient will receive is entered. The first medication is injected into the patient through a flow sensor assembly. The flow rate and the volume of the first medication delivered to the patient are monitored by the flow sensor assembly while the injection occurs. A visual display provides information related to the injection. The method updates the patient's electronic medical administration record to capture the information regarding the injection of the first medication.
