  • Patent number: 6866667
Abstract: A patellar milling clamp is provided with a depth control for limiting and controlling the milling depth of a grater rotated against a bone secured in the milling clamp. A stop ring is provided on a shaft of the milling tool. The shaft is slidable in a guide bushing of the milling clamp, and a rotatable cap on the guide bushing is selectively engaged in notches in the guide bushing to provide an abutment surface at selectively different elevations. Further advancement of the tool is prevented when the stop ring abuts the abutment surface of the cap. The depth of milling is precisely controlled regardless of the original thickness of the patellar bone being milled.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 3, 2002
Date of Patent: March 15, 2005
    Assignee: Symmetry Medical, Inc.
Inventors: Steven R. Wood, Bryan C Mendenhall, Paul E. Salyer

  • Patent number: 6223207
Abstract: A technique for performing multiple simultaneous asynchronous input/output operations in a computer operating system. An input/output completion port object is created and associated with a file descriptor. When I/O services are requested on the file descriptor, completion is indicated by a message queued to the I/O completion port. A process requesting I/O services is not notified of completion of the I/O services, but instead checks the I/O completion port's queue to determine the status of its I/O requests. The I/O completion port manages multiple threads and their concurrency.

    Assignee: Microsoft Corporation
Inventors: Mark H. Lucovsky, John D. Vert, David N. Cutler, Darryl E. Havens, Steven R. Wood
