Publication number: 20250083372Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing oriented polymer films are disclosed. The apparatus includes a curved enclosure configured to rotate and a flow obstacle. The curved enclosure has an interior volume with an opening at one end. The flow obstacle extends through the opening and interior volume, with one end rigidly coupled to a mounting plate. The flow obstacle's position is adjustable to contact the interior surface of the curved enclosure, defining a gap between them. The method involves introducing a material into the curved enclosure, adjusting the flow obstacle's position, and rotating the curved enclosure to generate an extensional flow within the material. The apparatus and method may be used for producing two-dimensional polymer films and can incorporate features such as inert gas flushing, heating systems, and various blade configurations for the flow obstacle.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2024Publication date: March 13, 2025Inventors: Steven Raymond Lustig, John J.S. Publication number: 20160242548Abstract: A base supports an adjustable seat in the interests of automated weight shifting in order to relieve pressure. An orientation-adjusting system allows for the seat to be shifted to create aforementioned pressure relief. The seat has a sitting platform and a back support. The sitting platform is tiltable thanks to a joined tilting platform of the orientation-adjusting system. The back support can be inclined relative to the seat by means of a reclining mechanism of the orientation-adjusting system. A control module is programmed to direct shifting of the seat. The control module uses data gathered from a sensor system and an orientation feedback system to ensure that any adjustments made via the orientation-adjusting system are only performed when it is safe to so. A communication module and data storage unit further expand upon the capabilities of the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 19, 2016Publication date: August 25, 2016Inventors: Christopher Scott Barnum, Steven Raymond Upshaw, David Winer, Joshua Barnum

Patent number: 9203147Abstract: Beamforming system and method which includes an inverse beamformer with first ports and second ports, a beamformer with beam ports and antenna ports, and antennas. The inverse beamformer may receive transmit signals provided to first ports, generates intermediate signals based on the transmit signals, and output the intermediate signals from the second ports. The beamformer's beam ports may couple to the second ports and the antenna ports, and may receive the intermediate signals at the beam ports, generate antenna signals based on the intermediate signals, and output the antenna signals at the antenna ports. The antennas may each receive an antenna signal from an antenna port, and transmit the antenna signal into space. Patent number: 8934855Abstract: A base station for use in a mobile telephony network includes an antenna arrangement coupled to a transceiver arrangement for producing a plurality of beams. A method of testing the base station comprises detecting at the transceiver arrangement the signal strengths of a test signal received via the beams; comparing and/or correlating the said signal strengths detected at the transceiver arrangement; and using the results of the comparisons and/or correlations to determine the configuration of the antenna arrangement and transceiver arrangement and/or to detect faults. The comparison of average signal strengths can be used to detect cabling faults, and beam errors. The correlation of un-averaged signal strengths can be used to determine which beams have the same polarization. Beam pointing directions and the allocation of antennas to sectors can be determined by monitoring handovers of mobiles moving between cells. Frequencies may be allocated to sectors according to a frequency re-use scheme.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2008Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Simon John Gale, Steven Raymond Hall, Andrew James Urquhart
