  • Patent number: 7527260
Abstract: This is a paper-handling system using a motor driven frictional drive element to push a paper sheet into a compiling tray. The tray has a registration wall where a paper sheet is abutted to align a paper stack. The system uses a sensor to convey relevant information to the motor and drive element as to the location of the top paper sheet vis-à-vis the registration wall. By instructing the motor and drive element on the top sheets location, better and more consistent paper-stacking alignment is accomplished.

  • Patent number: 7421241
Abstract: Parallel printing systems and methods incorporate inverter assemblies for not only inverting media during transport through the system but also to register the media or provide a velocity buffer transports with different drive velocities. The inverter assemblies can include the capability to optionally deskew the media and provide lateral registration corrections. The inverter assembly nip rollers are sufficiently spaced from process drive nip rollers to decouple a document in the inverter assembly from the highway paths. The method comprises combining the inverting function selectively with either the registering or the velocity buffering functions.

  • Patent number: 7310108
Abstract: A printing system includes first and second marking engines which are operatively connected to each other for printing images onto print media. A print media transport system collects printed media from the marking engines. The print media transport system includes a common paper path which receives printed media from the first and second marking engines. A sensor element is associated with the common paper path for measuring an image quality parameter of printed media traveling thereon and generating a control signal therefrom. An image quality controller is in communication with the sensor element for adjusting image quality parameters in at least one of the first marking engine and second marking engine based on the control signal to reduce a variation in an image quality characteristic of printed images produced by the first and second marking engines.

  • Patent number: 7226158
Abstract: A system includes at least first and second marking modules, each of the marking modules including a marking engine and at least one media feeder which feeds print media to the marking engines. First and second output modules receive print media from the first and second marking modules. The first and second output modules each include a finisher. At least one print media network selectively conveys print media between each of the marking modules and each of the output modules. The first and second output modules each include a portion of the print media network, the portion extending between an inlet interface and an outlet interface of the module.

  • Patent number: 7024152
Abstract: Parallel printing systems include first and second adjacent electronic printers and at least one sheet bypass section extending around the second electronic printer to provide a sheet transporting path overlying the second electronic printer and bypassing the second electronic printer. The sheet bypass section includes an output for merging printed sheets from the first electronic printer with printed sheets printed by the second electronic printer. The output preferably comprises a intermediate transport section having a first input aligned with the output of the bypass section and a second input aligned with the output of the second electronic printer.
