Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed to monitor movement in intersecting pathways. The apparatus comprises a pedestrian alert device comprising a housing comprising a first surface facing a first direction and a second surface facing a second direction, wherein said first direction differs from said second direction. The pedestrian alert device further comprises a controller disposed within the housing, a first sensor disposed on the first surface and interconnected with the controller, a second sensor disposed on the second surface and interconnected with the controller, and at least one light emitting device disposed on the housing and interconnected with the controller.
