  • Patent number: 7822310
Abstract: There is provided splice trays and splice assemblies that provide convenient access to optical fiber slack within a relatively small area or volume. Some splice trays are adapted for use with microstructured optical fibers to further reduce the size of the splice tray or splice assembly. Some splice trays provide fiber routing devices on the cover of the splice tray. The fiber routing device may be positioned on an inside surface of the cover and/or on an outside surface of the cover. The splice trays and/or splice assemblies may be used with or as fiber drop terminals used within multiple dwelling units.

  • Patent number: 7730894
Abstract: Light generating devices for illuminating portions of vascular tissue, to render photodynamic therapy. In one embodiment, a light source array preferably including a plurality of light emitting diodes, a focusing lens, and a light diffusing element are included in a distal end of a catheter. A balloon is optionally provided to interrupt blood flow that can block the transmission of light, and to center the apparatus in a blood vessel. Optical fibers optionally direct light from the light source to the diffusing element. The light source array can have a radial or linear configuration and can produce more than one wavelength of light for activating different photoreactive agents. Linear light source elements are particularly useful to treat elongate portions of tissue in a vessel. One embodiment intended for use with a conventional balloon catheter integrates light sources into a guidewire.

  • Publication number: 20100038128
Abstract: A device is described to assist electricians capture cabling dropped down through a cavity wall. The device (1) includes an open-ended first hollow cylindrical body (2). A second body (4) is a solid cylindrical tube of a diameter for a sliding fit within the first body (2). A loop of flexible tape-like metal banding (7) has both its free ends (8,9) retained within a slot (6) at an end of the second body (4). On movement of the second body (4), the banding (7) enters the cavity wall to abut the inner rear surface of the cavity, the banding (7) flexing to border a capturing area (29). A cable (23) is then passed down the cavity (22,26) until a suitable length thereof has passed through the capturing area (29). As the second body (4) is then moved away from the wall (20, 25), the cable (23) is retained by the diminishing diameter of the area (29) enabling the cable (23) to readily pass through hole (27,28) to be accessed by the user of the device.

  • Patent number: 7574642
Abstract: A method is provided to utilize built-in self test (BIST) latches for multiple purposes. Conventionally, BIST latches are single purpose. Hence, separate latches are utilized for array built-in self test (ABIST) and logic built-in self test (LBIST) operations. By having the separate latches, though, a substantial amount area is lost. Therefore, to better utilize the latches and the area, ABIST latches are reconfigured to utilize some previously unused ports to allow for multiple uses for the latches, such as for LBIST.

  • Patent number: 7573664
Abstract: Data reliability testing for a magnetic tape drive is conducted separately for the channels of a magnetic tape drive which write and read tracks of a multiple track magnetic tape. Memory stores testing data representing data separately written to tracks of a multiple track magnetic tape; each of a plurality of read channels reads data sensed by a tape head from a separate track of a magnetic tape; and error processing logic detects differences between data from each of a plurality of the read channels, and stored testing data of the memory representing data written to the same separate tracks.

  • Publication number: 20090158253
Abstract: A method, system, and computer-usable medium for automatically identifying the source of copied software. A single identifying marker can be embedded in a common code base associated with different software application products. A suspected copy of a product can be fed to an automated tool, which extracts the type of object code, which is then scanned to determine the identifying marker. The automated tool can therefore identify the exact product and version of the suspected copy utilizing the identifying marker and the type of object code without the need for labor-intensive modification of the common code base and product-specific markers.

  • Publication number: 20080313612
Abstract: A computer implemented method for determining when to change a representation type of at least one number stored in a memory of a data processing system. An operation is received in a processor of the data processing system. The operation references a number stored as a class of an object-oriented programming language. The number is stored as a first representation type. Responsive to the operation being biased towards the first representation type, a first counter is incremented. Responsive to the operation being biased towards a second representation type, a second counter is incremented. A counter reference is equal to a first value of the first counter subtracted from a second value of the second counter. Responsive to the counter reference exceeding a threshold number, representation of a subsequent number is changed from the first representation type to the second representation type.
