  • Patent number: 9521727
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and techniques for a lighting fixture with a motion sensor and an emergency battery test switch. The disclosure herein provides a lighting fixture for fitting within a ceiling, wall, or other surface. The lighting fixture includes a frame which forms the perimeter of the lighting fixture. The frame includes two endplates and two side bars, forming an outer frame of the lighting fixture. The frame further includes a device mounting bracket coupled between the two endplates, separating the outer frame into two frames. Each of the two frames houses a lightguide which is coupled to a light source. Each of the light guides are coupled with a back reflector. The motion sensor and emergency battery test switch can be coupled to the device mounting bracket or elsewhere on the frame.

  • Patent number: 9506630
Abstract: A component housing band includes a center portion that comprises an aperture extending through the center portion and a mounting structure disposed adjacent to the aperture. The mounting structure extends from a surface of the center portion in a direction that is substantially normal to the corresponding surface of the center portion. The mounting structure engages the ends of a notch in a lens and forms a cavity to house an electronic component. Further, the component housing band includes a first elongated arm portion and a second elongated arm portion integral with the center portion and extending away from opposite ends of the center portion in opposite directions, respectively. The ends of the first elongated arm portion and the second elongated arm portion that are away from the center portion and opposite to each other are adapted to engage with corresponding latch structures of the lens.

  • Patent number: 9375142
Abstract: A patient monitoring and intervention system, comprises an interface for receiving data representing multiple different parameters from multiple different sensors, comprising sensors in a patient bed and attached to a patient including, a heart rate sensor, a respiration sensor and a pressure sensor indicating bed pressure points. A learning processor determines a normal range for a set of the different received patient parameters for the patient by recording the patient parameter values over a time period and analyzing the recorded parameter values to determine their range. A data processor determines if the set of different received patient parameters exceeds the determined normal range and in response to this determination and in response to the type of parameters in the set and medical record information of the patient, initiates adjustment of a patient bed and at least one of, (a) changes medication administered to a patient and (b) alerts a worker of the patient parameter change.

  • Publication number: 20150297183
Abstract: An array transducer probe has transducer elements arranged in adjacent patches (62, 64, 66) of groups of transducer elements. A microbeamformer in the probe is coupled to the elements of the array to transmit ultrasound beams and delay echo signals received by the transducer elements. In a standard configuration the elements of each patch (62, 64, 66) are coupled to the summing node (72, 74, 76) of that patch. The elements of each patch may also be coupled to the summing nodes of one or more adjacent patches. For multiline (4?, 6?) reception some of the elements of the active aperture are coupled to the summing node of one patch, and other elements of the active aperture are coupled to the summing node of another patch. This coupling provides at least two different patch signals to channels (82, 84) of a system beamformer for multiline processing.

  • Patent number: 9018882
Abstract: A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) supplies power to rotate a motor, controlling both the speed and direction. The method normally used for this power conversion by the VFD results in energy losses and line harmonics. When the motor is driven by the VFD to be rotating at the same speed and direction as if the motor was straight across the incoming AC power, a transfer in power supply to the motor can be made using contactors to bypass the VFD. When in this bypass mode, the energy losses of the VFD are greatly reduced, and the line harmonics due to the VFD are greatly reduced. When it is subsequently recognized that the speed reference has deviated from being the same speed and direction as if the motor was straight across the incoming AC power, a transfer in power supply can be made from using contactors to once again drive the motor from the VFD.

  • Publication number: 20140058270
Abstract: A matrix array ultrasound probe passively dissipates heat developed by the matrix array transducer and beamformer ASIC away from the distal end of the probe. The heat developed in the transducer stack is coupled to a metallic frame inside the handle of probe. A metallic heatspreader is thermally coupled to the probe frame to convey heat away from the frame. The heatspreader surrounds the inside of the probe handle and has an outer surface which is thermally coupled to the inner surface of the probe housing. Heat is thereby coupled evenly from the heatspreader into the housing without the development of hotspots in the housing which could be uncomfortable to the hand of the sonographer.

  • Patent number: 8527033
Abstract: Systems and methods which determine the position of an instrument internal to an object using an opto-mechanical sensor are shown. Embodiments utilize an opto-mechanical sensor system in which a mechanical instrument interface provides instrument movement information to a corresponding optical sensor system to determine instrument movement. Determinations of instrument movement preferably provide information regarding movement direction and speed. Such information, when used in combination with other information such as starting position or starting position offset, insertion angle or angle of attack, and/or insertion plane, is utilized by embodiments of the invention to determine the position of an instrument or portion thereof. Embodiments are adapted to accommodate different instrument configurations. Position information may be utilized in combination with an ultrasound image to display a visual representation of the instrument, or portion thereof, within a object being imaged.

  • Publication number: 20130181471
Abstract: This invention relates to a cart (hand cart, dolley) for the safe transport of an elongated load in a horizontal position; and in particular to carts for transporting spinal boards, rescue stretchers, rescue baskets, full body vacuum splits and similar loads and their passengers in a horizontal position, where the wheels can be repositioned horizontally along the cart to facilitate loading and then for improved balance and cart mobility on stairs, narrow hallways and uneven terrain. Other elongated load, including sea kayaks, surfboards, construction materials, etc., may also be transported by a cart of the nature disclosed. The wheels may also be mounted on a hinged strut, which permits the wheels to swing fully out from under the cart during loading and then back under the cart during operation. Shock absorbers along the strut and/or the wheel mounts may permit a balanced horizontal transport with a smooth ride even on rough or uneven terrain.

  • Patent number: 8473852
Abstract: Methods and systems are described that allow coordinated users to employ avatars to observe and control a plurality of buildings—their building support systems and functions from a virtual world environment. Embodiments coordinate building supervisory personnel (specialists), building monitoring and control equipment, and repair (worker) personnel in a virtual world that is controlled by specialist avatars. Operations personnel perform building operation decisions in response to current situations in a virtual world using their specialist avatars.
