  • Patent number: 7949686
Abstract: A scalable fulfillment system is presented that supports business processes, manages the transport and processing of business-related messages or documents between a business entity and clients, such as customers, vendors, and business partners, and generally supports business document processing. The system intelligently manages the transportation of files from clients, through processing of files, to generating responses that return to the clients. To accommodate a heterogeneous interfacing and processing with different clients in a central system, a file normalization technique is used that captures a common meta-data format from the numerous heterogeneous file types used by numerous clients. The meta-data files, also referred to as messages, contain links to their associated data files and are processed separately.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 4, 2010
Date of Patent: May 24, 2011
    Assignee: Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
Inventors: Alvin Kai-Hau Chang, Simon Wing-Lok Hui, Yulia Groza, Nathaniel D. Harward, Steven S. Chen

  • Patent number: 5877938
Abstract: A rack-mount data server includes a housing, a plurality of data server components supported by the housing, the components including at least one peripheral storage device, a logic chassis for the data server, at least one disk drive on which the data server stores files, and at least one power supply, and a plurality of racks coupled with the housing to accommodate the data server components, the racks including a first topmost rack accommodating the at least one peripheral storage device and a second rack accommodating the logic chassis, the housing supporting the second rack underneath the first rack as the second topmost rack. The data server also includes a front door and a top door, the top door and the front door being interlockable with each other such that when the top door and the front door are in their closed positions, one of the top door and the front door locks the other of the top door and the front door in its closed position.

  • Patent number: 5442475
Abstract: An optical clock distribution method and apparatus is disclosed that minimizes clock skew in the distribution of clock signals to logic assemblies in a computer system. The logic assemblies convert the optical signals into equivalent electrical signals.

  • Patent number: 5388217
Abstract: Four clusters of 16 CPU's each are each associated with a solid state memory and a main memory. Each CPU is uniquely associated with a channel arbitrator which interconnects the associated CPU to serial ports. Each channel arbitrator is associated with a set of 16 serial channels. Each serial channel is in turn interconnected to a channel adapter which includes software and firmware adapted for interacting with a specific peripheral device. Each channel adapter also has software and firmware which is device-independent for data transfer with the channel arbitrator. The channel arbitrator includes a memory port for accessing main memory through the CPU, a port for accepting service requests and providing interrupts to the CPU's, direct memory access control logic, arbitration control logic, serial ports associated with the channel adapters, and a parallel port is associated with solid state memory.
