  • Publication number: 20060199984
Abstract: A hydrocarbon composition comprises at least 90 wt. % of C9 to C20 non-normal olefins, non-normal saturates or combinations thereof based on the weight of the hydrocarbon composition, at least 2 wt. % and not greater than 25 wt. % of C9 hydrocarbons based on the weight of the hydrocarbon composition, and less than 15 wt. % of C17+ hydrocarbons based on the weight of the hydrocarbon composition, wherein said hydrocarbon composition has a specific gravity at 15° C. of at least 0.730 and less than 0.775. The composition is produced by oligomerization of at least one C3 to C8 olefin and an olefinic recycle stream containing no more than 10 wt. % of C10+ non-normal olefins. The composition is useful in producing fuel blends, such as jet fuel and diesel fuel.

  • Publication number: 20060199987
Abstract: A process for producing a hydrocarbon composition that comprises contacting a feed stream, that comprises at least one C3 to C8 olefin, and an olefinic recycle stream, that comprises a first olefinic recycle stream and no more than 10 wt % of C10+ non-normal olefins, with a molecular sieve catalyst in a reaction zone under olefin oligomerization conditions producing an oligomerization effluent stream; separating the oligomerization effluent stream to produce a first olefinic stream, that has a weight ratio of C4?/(C5-C8) molecules from about 0.8 to about 1.2 times the weight ratio of C4?/(C5-C8) molecules found in the oligomerization effluent stream, and a first hydrocarbon product stream, that comprises at least 1 wt % and no more than 30 wt % of C9 non-normal olefin; and splitting the first olefinic stream to produce the first olefinic recycle stream and a first purge stream.

  • Publication number: 20060161031
Abstract: The invention relates to hydrocarbon fluids having high purity with respect to at least one of sulfur species, nitrogen species, oxygenated species, and unsaturated species, particularly hydrocarbon fluids low in aromatics, a method of making said hydrocarbon fluids, a catalyst for use in said method, an apparatus whereby said method may be practiced, and uses of said fluids.

  • Publication number: 20060129017
Abstract: A process for the reduction of naphthalene in process streams containing alkylaromatic solvents. Naphthalene is contacted with alkylbenzenes in a distillation column reactor in the presence of transalkylation catalyst to produce alkylnaphthalenes which are concurrently separated by fractional distillation as bottoms and the alkylbenzenes are separated as overheads.

  • Publication number: 20050234275
Abstract: A process for reducing naphthalene concentration in a naphthalene containing aromatic fluid, the process comprises hydrogenating at least a portion of the naphthalene in the presence of a Group VIII metal catalyst at a temperature from 50° C. to 110° C. to form tetrahydronaphthalene.

  • Publication number: 20050215433
Abstract: A composition that comprises a pesticide and an aromatic fluid. A method of preparing a pesticide emulsion that comprises combining a pesticide and an aromatic fluid to form a composition, blending that composition with a surfactant component to form an emulsifiable pesticide concentrate, and mixing that emulsifiable pesticide concentrate with water to form the pesticide emulsion. A method of applying the pesticide emulsion that comprises dispersing the pesticide emulsion onto a crop. A method for inhibiting pests that comprises applying the pesticide emulsion to a crop.

  • Publication number: 20050049448
Abstract: Alkenes, such as normal butenes in a mixed C4 stream are oligomerized, preferably to dimers, which are dimerized in a distillation column reactor over ZSM-57 zeolite catalyst at high conversions and high selectivity to octenes. Prior to oligomerization the mixed C4 stream is pretreated to remove dimethyl ether, butadienes and sulfur compounds.
