  • Patent number: 10317303
Abstract: A unitary tension and torque calibration apparatus consists of a unitary device which has a hollow rotary torque transducer for calibrating the torque of a rotating torque tightening tool. At the same time the torque of the tool is being calibrated, a reaction arm attached to the transducer reacts against rotation to induce stress on the metal component being calibrated. The axial forces generated within the metal component by rotation, opposed by the reaction arm, results in tension which is calibrated by a piston driven load cell secured directly to the transducer. Display devices attached to the transducer and load cell simultaneously and contemporaneously show the calibrated results.

  • Patent number: 9492912
Abstract: A hydraulic torque wrench system has a power head and interchangeable link cartridge drives, insertable into the power head. A power head to cartridge drive connection system secures the cartridge drives into the power head forming a single unit having a torque line extending through the center line of the power head, in order to eliminate adverse reactive forces. A hydraulic hose coupler allows 360° by 360° coupler rotation. The link cartridge drives include a reaction pawl which controls the movement of the ratchet within the cartridge drive, a clam shell drive plate for an internal ratchet tooth cassette, a locking system to maintain a ratchet square drive in opposed lateral positions, and a reaction arm adjustment system for locking the reaction arm in a plurality of configurations in relation to the cartridge drive.

  • Publication number: 20060090606
Abstract: A wrench with torque augmenting means consisting of an output socket wrench which utilizes a ratchet arrangement and which includes an input cog that is adapted to receive an external drive tool. The input cog constantly rotates under the influence of the external drive tool and a camming surface formed on the arm of the input cog coacts with a cam follower surface on the drive plate of the output to move the drive plate. A spring within the housing of the apparatus connected to the drive plate will cause the drive plate to return to its initial position where the action of the camming surface of the rotating cog arm from the input cog can then repeat its function. Rotary movement of the output in one direction is accomplished during the oscillation of the drive plate by means of the ratchet positioned within the drive plate.

  • Publication number: 20050011313
Abstract: A compact hydraulic torque wrench which has an efficient design enabling it to be relatively small in size. The arrangement of the return spring for the hydraulic cylinder provides increased strength and reduces the size of the unit. The device is constructed to enable the drive arm to go through the entire travel without change in alignment. Additionally, the device includes a braking system for the reaction arm to ensure that a ratcheting effect occurs and that the proper return of the hydraulic piston can be accomplished by means of a return spring without the necessity for a hydraulic return of the piston.

  • Patent number: 5398574
Abstract: A fluid-operated tool for elongating a stud which has an axis and an end extending out over a nut, the tool comprises stud pulling unit adapted to engage the end of the stud so as to pull the stud, nut turning unit adapted to engage the nut so as to turn the nut, first fluid-operated unit acting on the stud pulling unit so that the stud pulling unit pull the end of the stud to elongate the stud, second fluid-operated unit acting on the nut turning unit so that the nut turning unit turns the nut, the first fluid-operated unit and the second fluid-operated unit communicating with a fluid source so that a pressure fluid supplied by the fluid source to the first fluid-operated unit and the second fluid-operated unit elongates the stud and turns the nut.

  • Patent number: 5369867
Abstract: For tightening or loosening a threaded connector which has a part to be turned with a plurality of engaging formations, a power tool is utilized in which at least two pawls engage the engaging formations and are displaced to turn the part which is to be turned, and at the same time the pawls are arranged so that a distance between the pawls is smaller than the distance between the engaging formations so as to reduce a power stroke of the drive of the power tool.
