  • Publication number: 20070219433
Abstract: An apparatus, and related method, for providing information based on variables associated with a type of headache is described. The apparatus may include at least one processor, at least one memory, and at least one program module. The program module may be stored in the memory and may be configured or configurable to be executed by the processor. The program module may include instructions for receiving a list of variables. Note that these variables may be triggers that at least in part induce a headache associated with the type of headache in at least one individual if at least the one individual is exposed to one or more of the variables. The program module may include instructions for determining that at least the one individual is at risk of experiencing a headache associated with the type of headache during a first time interval. This determination may be based on the variables.

  • Publication number: 20070167751
Abstract: Techniques for characterizing a narrowing of a vessel are described. A location of a narrowing in a vessel is determined. A first velocity profile on a first surface is determined. The velocity profile corresponds to a fluid moving in the vessel and the first surface is in a region where the fluid motion is substantially laminar. A set of velocity profiles corresponding to the fluid motion are determined. Respective velocity profiles in the set of velocity profiles are determined on respective surfaces downstream of the narrowing and approximately downstream of a region of turbulent flow. A first characteristic of the narrowing is determined in accordance with the first velocity profile and the set of velocity profiles.

  • Publication number: 20060270918
Abstract: An apparatus, and related method, for determining one or more association variables is described. The apparatus includes at least one processor, at least one memory, and at least one program module stored in the memory configured to be executed by the processor. The program module includes instructions for selecting a subset of temporal onsets in a set of temporal onsets, instructions for determining a statistical relationship between the subset of temporal onsets and a pattern of occurrence of a variable, and instructions for identifying the variable as a migraine variable in accordance with the statistical relationship. The subset of temporal onsets includes one or more onsets corresponding to one or more migraines experienced by at least one individual, and the set of temporal onsets includes the subset of temporal onsets and one or more temporal onsets corresponding to one or more additional headaches experienced by at least the one individual.

  • Publication number: 20060080059
Abstract: An apparatus, and related method, for collecting information, such as that associated with one or more variables, is described. The apparatus may include at least one processor, at least one memory, and at least one program module. The program module may be stored in the memory and may be configurable to be executed by the processor. The program module may include instructions for a set of pre-determined questions, instructions for asking, one or more times during a time interval, a subset of pre-determined questions in the set of pre-determined questions, instructions for receiving, one or more times during the time interval, answers to the subset of pre-determined questions, and instructions for receiving configuration instructions. The configuration instructions may select the subset of pre-determined questions that are asked.

  • Patent number: 6697203
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a lifetime for a medium to fail due to thermal decay of a magnetization pattern is provided. Different stress magnetic fields are applied to a write head for writing to a machine-readable medium resulting in a magnetic field on the medium. A time to failure, corresponding to each of the different stress magnetic fields, is determined, the time to failure being an amount of time for an amplitude of a signal on the medium to degrade beyond a predetermined failure criteria. A time to failure without a stress magnetic field is determined based on the corresponding times to failure determined for each of the different stress currents.

  • Patent number: 6597539
Abstract: A suspension assembly for supporting a read/write head/slider assembly adjacent to a rotating storage disk with dynamically adjustable flying height for use within a hard disk drive is provided. The suspension assembly includes a generally elongated loadbeam that has a baseplate defined at a first end thereof and a gimbaled flexure portion defined at a second end thereof. The flexure portion includes a pair of flexure legs and a flexure tongue. The pair of flexure legs extend from the flexure tongue and each leg attaches to an opposite side of the loadbeam. The flexure tongue generally provides a mounting surface for the read/write head/slider assembly. Strips of thermal-expansion material are attached to the flexure portion. These strips are connected to a power source via a power conductor. When the strips are energized, they expand and deform a portion of the flexure portion.
