Publication number: 20230389181Abstract: A bracket for holding a sensor at a location on a circuit board. The bracket comprises a main body and at least two leg members. Each leg member further includes a first end connected to the main body and a second end extending away from the main body at a predetermined angle. In an engaged position of the bracket, the second end of each leg member is configured to extend through a corresponding opening in the circuit board and wherein each second end further comprises a hook member configured to engage a bottom portion of the circuit board in the engaged of the bracket. The bracket further includes at least one spring member having a first surface configured to contact a top portion of the sensor and exert a force substantially normal to the circuit board in the engaged position of the bracket.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2021Publication date: November 30, 2023Inventors: Steven T. VARIEUR, Joseph FARLEY, John STOWELL

Patent number: 10077575Abstract: A door lock extender and method of using the door lock extender in connection with a control panel box. The door lock extender includes an extender base having a lock slot for accepting a tang latch of a lock and an extender latch that is configured to engage a catch member of a control panel box. In use, the tang latch of the lock is inserted into the lock slot of the extender base. The extender latch engages the catch member on a housing of the control panel box locking a door to the housing while providing sufficient clearance for passage of a cable between the door and the housing.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2015Date of Patent: September 18, 2018Assignee: Tyco Fire & Security GmbHInventors: Steven T. Varieur, James T. Roberts

Patent number: 8845136Abstract: A strobe reflector that includes a reflective material and a support structure. The support structure may be adjusted or moved into at least two distinct positions to provide two distinct shapes for the reflective material. The first position of the support structure shapes the reflective material in a first configuration (such as a half-hemisphere) and a second position of the support structure shapes the reflective material in a second configuration (such as a full hemisphere).Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2010Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Assignee: Tyco Fire & Security GmbHInventors: Kenneth E. Savage, Jr., Steven T. Varieur

Patent number: 8730019Abstract: A pull station for an alarm includes a housing having an actuator mounted for movement with respect thereto. The actuator has a standby (i.e., normal) position and an alarm position. The actuator has a contoured actuation surface configured such that downward pressure on the actuation surface moves the actuator from the standby position to the alarm position. The actuator may be rotatably or slidably coupled to the housing. The actuation surface may extend beyond the front face of the housing when in the standby position. In some embodiments, the actuation surface is cup-shaped. In other embodiments, the actuation surface is v-shaped, with first and second angled portions forming oblique angles with respect to a lateral axis of the housing. Thus arranged, the actuator can be operated by a disabled who may not have complete hand or finger dexterity. Other embodiments are described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2013Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: SimplexGrinnell LPInventor: Steven T. Varieur

The first position of the support structure shapes the reflective material in a first configuration (such as a half-hemisphere) and a second position of the support structure shapes the reflective material in a second configuration (such as a full hemisphere). The different shapes of the reflective material may be used for different mountings of the strobe device, such as for a ceiling mount or a wall mount. In this way, a single strobe reflector may be configured for different installations (whether to the wall or ceiling).Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2010Publication date: October 6, 2011Applicant: SimplexGrinnell LPInventors: Kenneth E.
