  • Patent number: 8208500
Abstract: A latency control mechanism for a communication system provides a known constant end-to-end delay between an audio source and one or more end node destinations, even in the case where different paths are used to reach the end nodes. A very low jitter time on the end-to-end latency is obtained, and the latency is controllable within a given range in dependence on the constraints imposed by the implementation. A block RX DPLL and latency control unit adjusts the reading moment and position from the RX buffer so that a delay between the time stamp taken at the source side by the transmitter time stamp unit, and the time stamp taken at the receiver side by receiver time stamp unit is constant and equal to a given value.

  • Publication number: 20120033620
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to a system and related method that enable transfer of control and data messages in a wireless communication network between devices operating on different physical layers (PHY). Control data and/or isochronous data and/or asynchronous data may be transferred between devices that operate on different physical layers through a bridging device, while minimizing latency and buffering. The bridging device may contain interfaces that may operate on each of the respective physical layers. A first interface may receive a first superframe from a device in a first physical layer (PHY1) and may generate an equivalent second superframe to transmit to a second device on a second physical layer (PHY2). The bridging device may also synchronize the time slots and reference clocks for communication protocols on each physical layer to further minimize latency and buffering during the transfer of control and data messages via communication frames within these superframes.

  • Patent number: 7496340
Abstract: A system and method are provided for calibrating for an I/Q mismatch of a direct conversion receiver based on a random signal having a two-dimensional I versus Q trajectory, such as radio frequency (RF) noise. In general, the random signal is received and downconverted to a quadrature baseband signal having an in-phase component and a quadrature component. The variance of the in-phase component, the variance of the quadrature component, and the covariance of the in-phase component with the quadrature component are computed based on samples of the quadrature baseband signal. A correction matrix used to compensate for the I/Q mismatch of the receiver and/or I/Q mismatch including a gain mismatch and a phase mismatch of the receiver is then computed based on the variance of the in-phase component, the variance of the quadrature component, and the covariance of the in-phase component with the quadrature component.
