Abstract: A battery assembly includes a plurality of battery cells each including a cell tab and a bus bar connected to the cell tabs of adjacent battery cells. The bus bar including a pair of 180 degree bend regions that each define a channel for receiving a respective cell tab and a cut-out region defining an opening having opposing edge portions that allows direct access to the cell tab within the cut-out region. A weld line connects the cell tab to at least one of the opposing edge portions within the cut-out region.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for distracting tissue and particularly spinal tissue. The device and method may include insertion of at least one elongated member and an augmenting member to form a structure between the tissues to be distraction, such that a dimensional aspect of the structure is augmented upon movement of the augmenting structure.

The robot may have a laser pointer and/or a projector.

Abstract: An augmented reality (AR) system for aviation generates aviation objects over an image during flight. The AR system may determine a location and an orientation of the image capture device based on the location information and orientation information. The AR system may determine a field of view of the image capture device and identify aviation objects within the field of view. The AR system can then generate graphical user interface elements for identified aviation objects to be overlayed on the image data.

Abstract: A medical device securement system is configured to secure medical devices such as catheters in place. The securement system includes an anchor pad that attaches to a patient's skin. A malleable support base is attached to an upper surface of the anchor pad. The support base has front and back inclined surfaces that are separated by an offset surface that extends generally normal to both of the inclined surfaces. A spot of adhesive is applied to one or more of the inclined surfaces. A catheter assembly includes a connector having a first connector portion with a diameter larger than an adjacent second structure. The catheter assembly is attached to the support base with the first connector portion engaged with and supported by the back inclined surface, and the second connector portion engaged with and supported by the front inclined surface.

Abstract: Compositions and methods for reducing the level of nornicotine and N?-nitrosonornicotine (NNN) in Nicotiana plants and plant parts thereof are provided. The compositions comprise isolated polynucleotides and polypeptides for cytochrome P450s that are involved in the metabolic conversion of nicotine to nornicotine in these plants. Expression cassettes, vectors, plants, and plant parts thereof comprising inhibitory sequences that target expression or function of the disclosed cytochrome P450 polypeptides are also provided. Methods for the use of these novel sequences to inhibit expression or function of cytochrome P450 polypeptides involved in this metabolic conversion are also provided. The methods find use in the production of tobacco products that have reduced levels of nornicotine and its carcinogenic metabolite, NNN, and thus reduced carcinogenic potential for individuals consuming these tobacco products or exposed to secondary smoke derived from these products.

Abstract: A display system includes one or more multi-view (MV) pixels, each configured to emit beamlets in different directions in a beamlet coordinate system. The display system includes an input node which receives a specification of multiple viewing zones located relative to the MV pixels in a viewing zone coordinate system, and a processor coupled to the input node. The processor associates multiple contents with the multiple viewing zones, respectively, and determines a mapping that translates between the viewing zone coordinate system and the beamlet coordinate system. For each of multiple images generated from the multiple contents, the processor, using the mapping, identifies a bundle of beamlets from each of the MV pixels directed to one viewing zone to form the image. The processor outputs control signaling that defines color and brightness of each of the beamlets in each bundle to project the corresponding image to the corresponding viewing zone.

Each application-level switch includes rules defining message edits and selections of message destinations. The rules managers operate to manage the rules. Network functions process messages on the application level, and include operation of one or more rules managers and operation of an application-level switch. The network function is performed by the switch application by performing application level message processing according to rules managed by the at least one of the plurality of rules managers. The application level switches together resolve a requested identity to one or more routable addresses, enabling the network to route a message.

Abstract: A method for increasing corrosion resistance of metallic substrates without use of hexavalent chromium includes chemically treating the substrate to create an oxide layer, mixing graphene nanoplatelets into a non-chromate epoxy-based primer, applying the primer to the oxide layer of the substrate, and applying a topcoat to the primer opposite the oxide layer.

Abstract: The use of multiple stimulation signals having one or more frequencies and one or more phases to generate an image of touch on a touch sensor panel is disclosed. Each of a plurality of sense channels can be coupled to a column in a touch sensor panel and can have one or more mixers. Each mixer in the sense channel can utilize a circuit capable generating a demodulation frequency of a particular frequency. At each of multiple steps, various phases of one or more selected frequencies can be used to simultaneously stimulate the rows of the touch sensor panel, and the one or more mixers in each sense channel can be configured to demodulate the signal received from the column connected to each sense channel using the one or more selected frequencies. After all steps have been completed, the demodulated signals from the one or more mixers can be used in calculations to determine an image of touch for the touch sensor panel at each of the one or more frequencies.

Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for providing web container partitions in an application server environment. The application server environment can include a domain with one or more partitions, each partition associated with one or more virtual targets, and each virtual target including configuration information for a web server that hosts one or more applications deployed to that virtual target. Each virtual target can register configuration information of its associated web server with a web container. When receiving a request for accessing an application in a particular partition, the web container can examine information in the host header of the request and virtual target configuration information in the web container, to find a matching web server for dispatching the request.

Abstract: An illumination stacker game is described having audiovisual signals for placing rings of different colors onto a central core. Upon placement, sensors determine which ring has been placed and provide audiovisual feedback as to whether the ring placed is the one which was requested in the game sequence. Different levels of difficulties and different audiovisual modes of communication are involved including multiple languages.
