  • Publication number: 20170272610
Abstract: A special-purpose image processor can convert an electronic file into a bitmap by generating printing halftone dots within the bitmap based on locations of colors within the electronic file, and generating non-printing dots within the bitmap. A printing apparatus can print the bitmap, by not print marking materials where the non-printing dots are positioned within the bitmap. The special-purpose image processor can generate the non-printing dots within the bitmap by increasing the size of the printing halftone dots until they contact one another, or generating printing lines that connect the printing halftone dots to each other within the bitmap. Also, the special-purpose image processor can generate, as each printing halftone dot, a higher frequency pattern of printing dots, where the non-printing dots are generated to have a lower frequency pattern relative to that higher frequency.

  • Publication number: 20170273211
Abstract: A cable management apparatus that limits the degree of travel of a FRU (e.g., server, other computing device, power supply, etc.) out of a storage rack to an amount just necessary to service one or more particular components of the FRU (e.g., fan bay, etc.) free of having to power down the FRU which provides a more cost effective maintenance strategy for users. As a result, the disclosed cable management apparatus advantageously allows for the use of shorter cables between the FRU and other devices (e.g., other FRUs, switches, power supplies, etc.), improved airflow through the FRUs and the storage rack, reduced complexity of the cable management apparatus, simplified installation and manipulation of the apparatus, and the like.

  • Publication number: 20170270010
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods, program products, and systems for determining an amount of usable storage in a backup environment. Embodiments of the present invention can be used to receive system information pertaining to a storage backup environment. Embodiments of the present invention can calculate a compression ratio of the storage on a backup server and a backup ratio between an amount of data on a client computer system and an amount of data on the backup server and calculate an average amount of storage consumed on the backup server. Embodiments of the present invention can determine an existing backup capacity for the storage backup environment by identifying an amount representing the actual capacity of data capable of being stored on the backup server and reducing the amount representing the actual capacity according to the calculated average amount of storage consumed on the backup server.

  • Publication number: 20170266731
Abstract: A method and apparatus for machining an internal surface of a differential case. A lathe having a turret and a pair of spindles are in electrical communication with a programmable computer. Integrally connected to the turret is a cutter gripper assembly that is selectively grippingly engageable with a cutter. A differential case is mounted horizontally within a mount assembly on a tabletop of the lathe. Once the cutter gripping assembly engages the cutter, the turret moves toward the differential case until the cutter is in a start position within the hollow portion of the case aligned with openings in a first and second tubular portion of the case and the pair of spindles. The pair of spindles then drivingly engage the cutter and the cutter machines a first and second internal machining surface as the cutter moves from a first cutting position to a second cutting position.

  • Publication number: 20170270172
Abstract: A database system is described that includes components for storing time-series data and executing custom, user-defined computational expressions in substantially real-time such that the results can be provided to a user device for display in an interactive user interface. For example, the database system may process stored time-series data in response to requests from a user device. The request may include a start time, an end time, a period, and/or a computational expression. The database system may retrieve the time-series data identified by the computational expression and, for each period, perform the arithmetic operation(s) identified by the computational expression on data values corresponding to times within the start time and the end time. Once all new data values have been generated, the database system may transmit the new data values to the user device for display in the interactive user interface.

  • Publication number: 20170270146
Abstract: A hierarchy is a multi-level linked structure of nodes, wherein the hierarchy represents data relating to a set of one or more items to be processed. Where there are multiple input hierarchies, it may improve the efficiency of the processing of the items to merge the input hierarchies to form a merged hierarchy. The hierarchies are merged by identifying two or more sub-hierarchies within the input hierarchies which are to be merged, and determining one or more nodes of the merged hierarchy which reference nodes of the identified sub-hierarchies. The determined nodes of the merged hierarchy are stored and indications of the references between the determined nodes of the merged hierarchy and the referenced nodes of the identified sub-hierarchies are also stored. In this way, the merged hierarchy is formed for use in processing the items.
