  • Patent number: 8938830
Abstract: A blanket assembly for swaddling an infant (e.g., newborn baby) includes a blanket body defining a pocket between an upper layer and a lower layer of the body at one end of the blanket body, the pocket accessible via an opening selectively closeable to seal the pocket. A neck, spine and spinal cord support device of a semi-rigid material is removably insertable in the pocket of the blanket body and secured within the blanket by the pocket so as to maintain the support device in a substantially fixed position within the blanket body. The support device supports the head, neck, spine and spinal cord of a newborn baby or infant when the infant is laid on the blanket body in a supine position and wrapped in the blanket body, so as to inhibit injury to the infant's head, neck, spine and spinal cord while carried by a person.

  • Patent number: 8939139
Abstract: B/D archery bow accessories which have an elastomeric vibration dampening component mounted on an elongated, rigid support. The elastomeric component has a set of integral vibration dampening elements such as ribs. The vibration dampening elements have irregular profile configurations which make these elements capable of dampening with high efficiency the sets of vibrational frequencies generated: (a) when an arrow is shot, and (b) during and after the ensuing lock-up. Vibration dampening efficiency may be promoted by making the elastomeric component from a material of the most optimal hardness that is practical and by employing end pieces at opposite ends of the elastomeric component.

  • Patent number: 8941056
Abstract: A mass spectrometer is disclosed wherein an ion signal is split into a first and second signal. The first and second signals are multiplied by different gains and are digitized. Arrival time and intensity pairs are calculated for both digitized signals and the resulting time and intensity pairs are combined to form a high dynamic range spectrum. • Patent number: 8941465
Abstract: Secure door entry without a traditional card reader is made possible by tagging the door with an unpowered, unique token which can be read by a user's personal mobile electronic device. The user's device transmits both door and user identification to a remote server, where the decision is made whether to open the door. If so, the server sends an open door signal using the IP suite of protocols to an electronic bridge, which in turn passes the signal on to a door strike, opening the door. Another signal may be sent to an annunciator. Single-use digital tokens may also be used to open the doors. The permissions relating to doors or other physical assets may also be used to grant access to logical assets.

  • Patent number: 8941919
Abstract: A source video comprising a sequence of 2D image frames is acquired, a value for an inter-ocular distance of a viewer is determined, and an image frame is obtained from the source video that includes two or more motion vectors that describe motion in the image frame where each of the motion vectors is associated with a region of the image frame. Parameters for a lateral speed of the image frame and a direction of motion of the image frame are determined. A deformation value is generated based on the inter-ocular distance and both of the parameters, and the deformation value is applied to the image frame to identify a modified image frame. The modified image frame is blended with a first bridge frame and with a second bridge frame that are different from the modified image frame and different from each other to generate first and second blended frames. The first blended frame and the second blended frame are displayed to a viewer.

  • Patent number: 8941396
Abstract: An electronic sensing system has a transceiver with input and output pads, an excitation circuit connected to the output pad, and a detection circuit connected to the input pad. An electrically-conductive sensor patch has an electrical state that changes with exposure to a corresponding environmental factor. The detection circuit detects an electrical state of the input electrical-connection pad in response to the excitation signal and the electrical state of the sensor patch. A stack of one or more layers in order is disposed over the sensor patch in the detection region. Each layer is susceptible to a respective environmental factor, so that the sensor patch changes electrical state in response to exposure of the layer stack to the respective environmental factors of the one or more layer(s) in the selected order and subsequent exposure of the sensor patch to the corresponding environmental factor.
