Abstract: A radially adjustable barrel, a barrel-adjustment assembly, a radially adjustable heater assembly, and a radially adjustable distal-tip assembly. The barrel is radially adjustable between expanded and contracted positions having different diameters. The barrel-adjustment assembly includes a rotary ring defining a spiral cam guide and includes a cam follower attached to the barrel. The heater assembly includes a post, at least one heater, and at least one spring mounting the heater to the post and biasing the heater radially outward. In use, rotating the ring rotates the spiral cam guide, which displaces the cam follower radially inward or outward, which in turn displaces the outer end of the barrel radially inward or outward to decrease or increase the diameter of the barrel. As the diameter of the barrel is adjusted, the heaters remain in contact with the barrel due to the outwardly biasing influence of the spring.

Abstract: A notification method involves creating a template via a web server interface, where the template includes a statement having at least one tag, and triggering a transmission of raw data from a mobile communications device to the web server interface. The method further involves completing the template via the web server interface using the raw data transmitted to the mobile communications device. The template is completed by substituting the tag(s) with an alphanumeric expression deduced from the raw data. The method also involves uploading the completed template onto a remotely accessible social networking page.

Abstract: A wireless controller for operably controlling at least two devices. The wireless controller includes a cover portion, a base portion, a transmission mechanism and a component activation mechanism. The base portion is operably attached to the cover portion. The transmission mechanism and the component activation mechanism are each mounted to at least one of the cover portion and the base portion. The component activation mechanism causes the transmission mechanism to transmit a communication signal to the at least one of the at least two devices. When the cover portion and the base portion are in a closed configuration, the component activation mechanism is substantially covered.

Abstract: A surgical sagittal saw blade and a complementary cutting guide for use with the blade. The blade includes a bar shaped to be releasably secured in a static position to a complementary surgical sagittal saw. A blade head with teeth is mounted to the bar to pivot. One or more drive links connected to the saw extend to the blade head to pivot the blade head. The cutting guide and blade bar have complementary features for holding the blade bar to above a surface of the cutting guide. The features that hold the blade bar to the cutting guide allow the blade to move over the cutting guide surface while constrain the blade from moving out of the plane immediately above the cutting guide surface.

Abstract: Systems and devices for minimally invasively treating an air leak in a lung comprise the steps of detecting an air leak in a lung; locating an airway in fluid communication with the air leak, introducing a bronchoscope into a patient's airway to a position adjacent the target section and occluding an airway upstream of the air leak for a period of time. The airway occlusion device is preferably removed after the air leak has substantially permanently healed. The occluding device may be a one-way valve. The occluding device may also comprise strut members and anchors that penetrate an airway wall.

Abstract: A model uses various operating characteristics of a fuel cell to predict the relative humidity profile that is occurring within the fuel cell as a function of the reaction progress. The model is used to predict the relative humidity profile that will occur in response to changes to one or more of the operating characteristics of the fuel cell. A high frequency resistance of the fuel cell can also be used as a measure that is indicative of the humidity within the fuel cell. The model and/or the high frequency resistance can be used in a closed-loop feedback system to control the operation of the fuel cell to maintain the humidification of the MEA and fuel cells within a desired range to achieve a desired fuel cell performance.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for motion estimation in a sequence of images. One or more motion vectors representing movement of a camera or viewer position or direction are determined between each pair of fields or frames in the sequence of images. A set of candidate motion vectors is then determined for deriving positions of objects in a field or frame from the positions of objects in a previous field or frame. This set of candidate motion vectors is adjusted using the motion vectors representing movement of camera or viewer position and thus a set of motion vectors is derived for a sequence of images using the adjusted set of candidate motion vectors.

Abstract: An apparatus for replacing underground plastic pipe consisting of a mole, flexible cable, pulling devise and water pump. The mole is a cone shaped tool consisting of a nose section, cutting blades, water nozzles and a hose barb. The flexible cable is inserted through the existing pipe, one end is attached to the pulling devise and the other end is attached to the nose section of the mole. Replacement pipe is attached to the hose barb section of the mole on one end and to the water pump on the other end. As the pulling devise pulls the mole along the path of the existing pipe, the cutting blades split the existing pipe and water from the nozzles erode and moisten the soil surrounding it. The cone shape of the mole expands the split pipe out into the moistened soil, creating clearance for the new pipe being pulled into place.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of molecular biology and concerns a method for improving various plant growth characteristics by modulating expression in a plant of a nucleic acid encoding a PRE-like (Paclobutrazol REsistance) polypeptide. The present invention also concerns plants having modulated expression of a nucleic acid encoding a PRE-like polypeptide, which plants have improved growth characteristics relative to corresponding wild type plants or other control plants. The invention also provides constructs useful in the methods of the invention. In another embodiment, the present invention relates generally to the field of molecular biology and concerns a method for enhancing various yield-related traits by modulating expression in a plant of a nucleic acid encoding an SCE1 (SUMO Conjugating Enzyme 1).

Abstract: In an electronic track relay, electronic relay circuitry receives an input track signal coded at a pre-determined code rate, and regenerates the input track signal at the pre-determined code rate after a predetermined time delay. A driving circuit is coupled to the electronic relay circuitry for receiving the delayed track signal therefrom and conducting, at the predetermined code rate, at least a power source to at least one of various components in a railroad signaling system. A latching circuit is configured for latching the driving circuit into one among a plurality of configurations respectively corresponding to a plurality of different signaling location types, depending on a signaling location type of the railroad signaling system in which the electronic track relay is installed.

Such may employ removable multi-well growth cassette. Wells may be subdivided into subwells. Such may employ removable media and waste cartridges and/or gas canisters to supply consumables, which may be supplied in kits, for example with processor executable culturing protocols. Direct fluidic coupling between growth cassettes and the removable cartridges or canisters may be employed. Operational and/or environmental conditions may be sensed or monitored, and may be used to adjust or alter operation. A microscopy subsystem may capture images which may be stored and/or analyzed. Analysis may be used to adjust or alter operation.

Abstract: Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) of thin film materials using a slurry including a surfactant chemical operative to polish high portions of the film being planarized while preventing the polishing of low portions of the film is disclosed. The low portions can be in a step reduction region of a deposited film. The CMP process can be used for form a planar surface upon which subsequent thin-film layers can be deposited, such as an electrically conductive material for an electrode. The subsequently deposited thin-film layers are substantially planar as deposited without having to use CMP. The resulting thin-film layers are planar and have a uniform cross-sectional thickness that can be beneficial for layers of memory material for a memory cell. The processing can be performed back-end-of-the-line (BEOL) on a previously front-end-of-the-line (FEOL) processed substrate (e.g., silicon wafer) and the BEOL process can be used to fabricate two-terminal non-volatile cross-point memory arrays.

Abstract: A display rack for displaying one or more sheets of posterboard or other similar sheet material has vertical columns supporting vertically spaced apart tiers, each tier having a perimeter frame having side rails secured to and supported by the vertical columns and front and rear rails. Corner guards are secured to the perimeter frame at the intersections of the side rails and the front and rear rails and positioned for respectively receiving a corner of the posterboard, each corner guard having a bottom wall, a side wall, an end wall deployed for holding posterboard on the tier. Corner guards at the rear corners have side walls that taper or flare outwardly. Clips adapt the corner guards for retrofitting to display racks.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for allocating spectrum within a wireless communication system is provided herein. During operation, a first base station will determine a location of a UE wishing to transmit. A database will be accessed containing wireless coverage area information for base stations with overlapping coverage with the first base station. Based on this information the first base station will determine if the UE is within an overlapping coverage area of multiple base stations. Spectrum will be assigned to the wireless equipment in a guard band, based at least in part on the determination that the UE is not within the overlapping coverage area.
