  • Patent number: 6774308
Abstract: A system, device and method are claimed for installing electrical switches and electrical plug connectors in a wall, without the use of junction boxes. The system uses prefabricated switch assemblies and/or receptacle assemblies. These assemblies contain either a switch or a receptacle that is manufactured into a housing. On the rear of the housing are one or two protrusions. Wire connector ports are disposed within the areas defined by the protrusions. The wire connector ports are coupled to either the switch or receptacle within the housing. To install an assembly, at least one hole is drilled into a wall and a cable run through the hole. The wires from the cable are stripped and inserted into the wire connector ports within the protrusion on the rear of the assembly. The protrusion is then inserted into the hole in the wall and the assembly is mounted flush on the face of the wall.

  • Patent number: 6634464
Abstract: A position indicator display system for an elevator. The elevator position indicator has a segmented display capable of producing alpha-numeric characters. The segmented display operates in a predetermined power range that may or may not match the operational voltage used by the rest of the elevator's systems. Within the elevator position indicator, a display driver is coupled to the segmented display. The display driver receives a location signal from the systems controller of the elevator. The display driver arranges the location signal to drive the segmented display and produce an alpha-numeric character indicative of the location signal. Since the elevator's operational voltage may differ from that of the elevator position indicator, a power conditioning circuit is provided. The power conditioning circuit selectively alters the power of the location signal so that the location signal falls within the operational power range of the segmented display.

  • Patent number: 5162665
Abstract: A vibration-resistant elevator call button/annunciator assembly comprises: a switch housing defining an interior cavity and apertures opening into the cavity; a switch mounted in the housing; a switch actuating member movably disposed in the cavity; a resilient member for urging the actuating member into an unactuated position in the cavity; and, a light module for illuminating the actuating member mounted through a wall of the housing. The light module preferbly snap fits in an aperture in the housing, the wedge-based lamp being press fitted into a receptacle in the module.
