Abstract: Facilitating dynamic management of networks to facilitate storage device access is presented herein. A discovery component can discover a network topology utilizing application programming interfaces (APIs) of storage devices, network switches, and servers comprising a client computing resource in response to receiving an API request to facilitate a network access between the client computing resource and a storage device of the storage devices. Further, using the network topology, the discovery component can generate a network graph representing a physical and logical connectivity between the client computing resource and the storage device. A graph analysis component can determine, using the network graph, that an available connectivity between the client computing resource and the storage device has not been configured.

Abstract: A system includes one or more storage devices and virtualization software configured to aggregate storage in the one or more storage devices into a virtual storage device accessible to a storage consumer. The virtualization software may include a group validation layer comprising a device-independent interface configured to validate a proposed group configuration operation on the one or more storage devices. The device-independent interface may be used to verify that the proposed configuration operation would, if completed, result in a configuration capable of supporting a desired virtualization functionality. The device-independent interface may allow an application to manage the one or more devices as a unit known as a virtual device group.

Abstract: A system for distributed discovery and management of frozen images includes a first and a second computer host, a first and a second frozen image agent and a frozen image server. Each of the first and second frozen image agents may be configured to identify one or more storage hierarchies hosted at a respective computer host, and to provide an encoding representing the identified storage hierarchies to the frozen image server. The frozen image server may be configured to aggregate the encodings provided by the frozen image agents into a system-level storage hierarchy catalog.

A storage management data store maintains storage data associated with a storage environment of the storage resources. The storage resource provider modules retrieve and update the storage management data in response to processing the storage operations. In one embodiment, a storage management application requests a selected storage resource provider module to perform a selected storage operation. The storage management application determines the selected storage resource provider module by acquiring the storage management data in the data store.
