  • Patent number: 9114324
Abstract: A carrier and a conventional toy vehicle have mating structures to releasably connect the two together. The carrier is configured to support the vehicle to run along a T shaped portion of the monorail track. The carrier has a main housing having the mating structure and a through channel on upper and lower sides. Rollers support the carrier to move on the upper running surface of the track while other structures extend beneath the running surface to capture the surface in the through channel. Weights are supported from the main housing in legs extending below the main housing, through channel and running surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 12, 2013
Date of Patent: August 25, 2015
    Assignee: Mattel, Inc.
    Inventors: Peter Chuang, Steven Verbera
  • Patent number: 8764511
Abstract: A toy vehicle has a frame pivotally supporting for side to side movement, front and rear carriages each having at least one road wheel to support and steer the vehicle. A steering control member is slidably supported between the carriages and moved sided to side by a steering actuator subassembly to simultaneously pivot facing ends of the carriages in the same lateral direction to steer the vehicle in the opposing lateral direction. The actuator subassembly simultaneously moves the vehicle body and a structure that simulate a pair of eyes in a front windshield area to simulate animated responses of the toy vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7862400
Abstract: A toy vehicle includes a plurality of wheels and an electric motor operably coupled to rotate at least one of the wheels. At least the one wheel and preferably each rotated wheel includes a hub and a tire mounted on the hub. The tire has an interior sufficiently hollow to make the wheel buoyant in water and the wheel is sufficiently sealed to prevent water penetration of the interior of the tire with the wheel immersed in water. The tire has a central portion surrounding the hub and a plurality of hollow lobes spaced from one another about the central portion. Each lobe has a pair of opposing outer sides at least one outer side being at least partially inwardly cupped to improve thrust caused by rotation of the wheel in water.

  • Publication number: 20090075557
Abstract: An illuminated toy is disclosed herein. In various aspects, the toy has a body, and may have one or more wheels rotatably thereto such that the body may rest upon the one or more wheels and may be conveyed about by the one or more wheels. The toy includes a sound module adapted to generate sound, and a light source is located about the body. The light source cooperates with the sound module to emit light in coordination with the sound generated by the sound module. For example, the light source may be switched on and off in coordination with the beat of sound in the form of music.

  • Publication number: 20060121824
Abstract: A remote-controlled toy motorcycle includes a chassis supported by oversized front and rear tires for increased stability, and a chassis-mounted rider figure having rotating members for contacting a ground surface to prevent excessive wear of the rider figure legs and also to allow the toy motorcycle to self-start from a leaning position. “Counter-steering” is simulated by actuating a steering servo to initially turn a front wheel from a straight original direction to a direction opposite the desired turn direction. The front wheel is held momentarily while the toy motorcycle destabilizes and leans in the turn direction. Then, the steering servo is automatically actuated to turn the front wheel in the desired turn direction.

  • Patent number: 5383600
Abstract: A vandal resistant part circle gear driven sprinkler having a plastic pop-up assembly including a nozzle housing rotatably mounted to a non-rotatable pop-up stem within which a reversible gear drive mechanism is mounted. A slip clutch is provided for mounting the reversible gear drive mechanism within the stem to prevent relative rotation during normal sprinkler operation, but which permits the mechanism to rotate relative to the stem whenever an external torque above a preselected level is applied to the nozzle housing.
