    Abstract: Multiple file transfers to and from a streaming tape device all performing one operation on a first file, and while simultaneously performing another, different operation on a second file. Streaming is maintained on multiple file transfers and the ability to save files by name, while maintaining streaming mode across file boundaries. This is accomplished by pre-processing the next files characteristics, while outputting a present file. Three data paths are utilized between a central processing unit, a file subsystem processor, and I/O devices.
