Abstract: An apparatus permitting VESA compliant devices to be mounted onto a flat surface, or placed onto a mobile, securable, and rotatable base plate is disclosed. The apparatus consists of a hollow stem with two (2) ends, one which can be affixed to a “VESA mounting plate”, with the opposing end affixed onto a flat surface directly flush, onto a base, or other mounting plate. The stem ends and accessory components are engineered to permit fast installation and support for multiple mounting options for on-surface or behind-the-surface mounting, as well as standalone mounting with theft-deterrent features, plus support for add-ons that permit easy lateral rotation of the assembly with cable management.

Abstract: An apparatus for securely enclosing a portable electronic or computing device using device compatible mounts and/or a device locking mechanism is described. The apparatus may comprise a front retaining frame and a device compatible back plate. The portable electronic or computing device may be enclosed between the front frame and the back plate in some implementations. The back plate may include VESA compatible mounting patterns in some implementations. In some implementations, the front frame and the black plate prevent unauthorized access to one or more controls of the enclosed device while leaving the screen of the enclosed device visible and while permitting audio to pass freely from the enclosed device to the ambient environment as well as from the ambient environment to the enclosed device.

The apparatus can include two main parts. The first part (“VESA Bracket”) mounts onto a VESA compliant device. The second part (“Surface Bracket”) can be placed onto a flat surface. The two parts come together using a set of tabs and fastening hardware. The apparatus mounts the VESA device at a fixed angle, which creates a void space inside the apparatus, allowing power charging adapters or other electronic components and cables to be stored, thereby achieving an aesthetic look. The apparatus permits a completed assembly to be placed onto a tabletop surface. The different hole patterns on the surface bracket are utilized to mount and affix the assembly securely onto an outlet or any flat surface. The complete assembly stays within ADA compliant dimensions.

The apparatus houses the tablet securely by way of a precisely dimensioned, flush-mounted base that features a custom-fitted opening which permits the tablet to press-fitted and placed inside. Once the tablet is installed, a face plate cover is placed on top of the base piece for aesthetics. The face plate mates with the base piece via snap fasteners, magnets, or other means which permit the pieces to remain secure with respect to each other, yet remain easily removable. The base piece features clearance slots for the various input & output ports of the tablet computer, such as, but is not limited to, power, audio, and connectivity.
